Overview
Each job stage campaign starts with a welcome message (exception: Rejection stage, which uses a single-message blast).
The concept of a welcome message exists due to WhatsApp and how WhatsApp regulates business-to-consumer conversations. You can read more about this here.
In short, WhatsApp requires all business-to-consumer conversations to start with an approved message template. This is what the welcome message is for.
Customise welcome message
To customise a job stage campaign's default welcome message, please follow these steps:
Open the job
Click on 'Edit job'
Go to the 'Stages' tab
Select the job stage
Click on 'Edit' in the campaign field
Click on 'Unlock'Editing'
Edit the welcome message
NOTE: Make sure to check that the Delivery Language matches the language you use in the custom Welcome Message template. Otherwise, the template may get rejected.
Approval or rejection
After customizing a welcome message, we submit it to WhatsApp for approval. Once approved, you can enroll candidates.
Approval typically takes between 5 minutes and 2 hours. We'll notify you via email as soon as the template is ready.
If your custom message template is rejected, you can easily edit and resubmit it for approval.
Best practices
Here are a few best practices for custom welcome messages:
Keep it short and simple
You can use emojis, but don't overdo it
Ensure you don't use any whitespace at the end of the template
Do not start your customised welcome message with an emoji
