Water Meter Splitter Box

Why Use a Pulse Splitter for Water Meters?

Updated over a month ago

What is a Pulse Splitter Box?

A pulse splitter is a device that connects to the pulse output of a meter and effectively duplicates the pulse signal. This allows multiple systems to receive the same pulse data without interference.

Why Would a Pulse Splitter Box Be Required?

Most meters have only a single pulse output, which can be a limitation when multiple systems—such as AMR devices, BMS systems, and data loggers—require access to the pulse signal. Without a splitter, these systems would need to compete for the same pulse output.

Our pulse splitter solves this issue by dividing the single pulse signal into three independent outputs, enabling multiple devices to receive real-time pulse data simultaneously. This ensures seamless operation and accurate data collection across all connected systems.

Can You Install a Pulse Splitter Box?

  • Privately Owned Meters: Yes, we can install a pulse splitter box to provide multiple pulse outputs as required.

  • Wholesaler-Owned (Fiscal Revenue) Meters: Installation depends on the policies of the specific water wholesaler. Some wholesalers permit accredited third parties like us to install a splitter box, while others require their own installation. In cases where wholesaler approval is needed, we can assist you with the application process.

What Do Our Splitter Boxes Look Like?

There are various types of pulse splitters available:

  • Some wholesalers provide splitter cables, which typically offer only two outputs.

  • Others provide basic splitter boxes, but these may not be waterproof or durable.

We provide best-in-class, fully waterproof pulse splitters with three independent pulse outputs to ensure maximum reliability.

  • Our splitter boxes are fully waterproof and built for long-term durability.

  • All internal components are encapsulated in a waterproof gel compound, eliminating the need for servicing.

  • The enclosure is completely sealed—simply strip back the flying leads for connection.
