To make a Foundation Library imported into a database with a Component Library (or the reverse) work you will need to “Merge” the Factory Workbooks. When doing this the Foundation Library factory MUST be used as the Foundation library uses more of the data stored in the factory workbook.

Follow the steps below to complete this “merger”:

First, you must save both of the Factory workbooks to your local PC.

  1. Open the databases using the CE Viewer program Here;

  2. Locate and open the table named “Factory”

  3. Locate the column called “workbook”

  4. Right-Click the Byte Array in the column and then select “Save file to disk”

  5. Give the file a name like “Factory Foundation” or “Factory Component” so that you know what it is while working in it

Next you need to open the 2 Factory files and compare the tables...

  1. Open the Factory files;

  2. Copy all the data from Column B to Column V in the Component Factory to the Foundation Factory;

  3. Re-define the columns if needed. (Example: Column L and M need to be defined);

  4. Copy all other look up tables the user may have added/customized from the Component to the Foundation Factory;

  5. Copy any added Tabs from the Component to the Foundation Factory.

Next you will save the file and import it...

  1. Save and close the Foundation Factory

  2. Rename the Foundation Factory to just “Factory”

  3. Open the databases using the CE Viewer program Here;

  4. Locate and open the table named “Factory”;

  5. Locate the column called “workbook”;

  6. Right-Click the Byte Array in the column and then select “Import File from Disk”;

  7. Close out of the CE Viewer and test.
