Introducing a New Part Properties Visualization Interface

We have improved the part properties visualization interface to provide more information for the selected part.

We also fixed two defects in the previous build. It did not correctly display the part rotation after making multiple consecutive changes to the part rotation, and the visualization interface would occasionally crash Toolbox if you attempted to zoom in the preview.

Build 20.1.0526.641 and greater contains the new part rotation interface. Please see the current and previous part rotation interfaces in the figure below.

Fig. 1 – Current Part Properties Visualization Interface

Fig. 2 – Previous Part Properties Visualization Interface

As you see in the figure above, the new part visualization interface displays the following part properties.

  1. Length

  2. Width

  3. Base Point

  4. Machine Point

  5. Rotation

  6. Machine Edges (1-4)

  7. Panel Edges (1-4)

  8. Edgebanded Edges

Part Visualization Interface Tools

Home

Click this button to reset the part properties visualization interface to the home viewpoint.

Magnifying Glass

Click this button to display a circular area of magnification that follows your cursor in the visualization screen to see specific areas more clearly.

Zoom Window

Click this button to define the zoom window size and location within the larger part visualization interface by clicking one corner and dragging and clicking then clicking the opposing diagonal corner. See also the description of the Zoom button below.

Zoom (Zoom Dynamic)

Click and hold this button while moving the cursor to the top of the screen to simulate moving the camera closer to the part or moving to the bottom of the screen to move the camera farther away. Zooming in magnifies the part.

Pan

Click this button and drag the view horizontally and vertically.

Rotate (Orbit)

Click this button to simulate moving the camera around the part. The target of the view remains stationary while the camera location, or point of view, moves.

Zoom Fit (Zoom Extents)

Click this button to define the zoom window size to include all objects within the visualization interface.

Viewpoint Cube

Click on the segment of the viewpoint cube corresponding to the desired view to change the part perspective. Use the cube to switch between standard and isometric views. This tool provides visual feedback about the current viewpoint of the model as view changes occur.

UCS Icon (Axis Indicator)

This icon represents the X, Y, and Z axes of the part visualization interface. The conical arrowheads point in the positive axis direction.

Dynamic View Controls

Zoom

Roll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out based on the zoom definitions above.

Orbit

Click and hold the middle mouse button to orbit around the part object.

Pan

Press and hold the Ctrl key while clicking and holding down the middle mouse button to pan dynamically.

The tools and controls not discussed in this article have not changed from the previous version.

Part Visualization Interface Access

Use the following procedure to access the part visualization interface of Part Properties.

  1. Open a project and room containing the product you intend to open in the Part Properties interface. Alternatively, open the Product List, select and right-click on the product to open, and click ‘Show Part Properties…’

  2. Depending on the composition of the product, do one of the following.

    1. Left-click on the part in the list on the right side of the interface if it exists there.

    2. Right-click on the subassembly containing the part on the left side of the interface and click ‘Show Properties.’ Left-click on the part in the list of parts for that subassembly from the list on the right side of the interface.

  3. Click the tab ‘Origin + Rotation’ containing the Part Properties Visualization Interface.
