Adding members to a Community Savings and Lending Group - Escrow

After creating your group and setting the group rules, the next step is to invite members. With MiKashBoks, members can participate even without a phone. However, those with mobile devices—whether smartphones or feature phones—will benefit from SMS notifications and the ability to make transactions themselves.

When you invite a member with a phone, they will receive an SMS containing a six-digit code along with an invitation to install MiKashBoks. They should provide you with the code to complete their group registration. If they choose to install the app, they can view group activities and transact independently for Escrow groups.

Members without a phone will be added to the group automatically without requiring an SMS code.

To make the process smoother, group admins should add each member as a contact beforehand. It is often fastest to invite members during a group meeting when everyone is present.

Check out the following guidance to know how to add members both automatically and manually:

  • Automatically (Saved contact)

To start, tap ‘Invite Members Next’ right after setting the group rules or find your group in the ‘Forming Groups’ section of your dashboard.

You will see a list of your contacts.

Scroll to find the member you want to add and tap on their name.

Alternatively, use the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top of the screen to find a contact.

Each added member will appear at the top of the screen. Tap on their name to edit their details, then click the green checkmark to proceed.

That's it!
The selected members will receive group invitations via SMS.

  • Manually (Unsaved contact)

If a contact is not saved in your phone, Tap ‘Invite Members Next’ after setting the group rules or find your group in the ‘Forming Groups’ section.

Tap the green circle, then select ‘Add Members’.

A list of contacts will appear. Find and select the member, or use the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top of the screen to find a contact.

Verify the member’s name and phone number, then select their gender and assign a member ID.

Add their address if needed, then tap ‘Next’.

Click ‘Add Member’ to confirm

For members without a phone number, tap ‘Add Manually’

Enter their name, gender, and ID number (if applicable), leaving the phone number blank.

Confirm that they don’t have a phone. If they do, tap ‘Update Phone’ to enter their number

Each added member will appear at the top. Tap on a name to edit details if needed.

If a member was added by mistake:

Tap their name. Click the three dots at the top-right corner. Select ‘Remove’ to delete them.

Once all members have been added, tap the green arrow to proceed.

Review the list of invited members and add an optional message. Then, tap the green checkmark to send invitations.

Each member with a phone will receive an SMS containing a six-digit code, which enables them to receive group notifications.

You'll see a confirmation screen with next steps. If a member does not have a smartphone, they will still receive an SMS code, which you can collect to activate their notifications.

After inviting members, return to your group on the dashboard. Tap on a member's name to enter their six-digit code.

Once all codes have been entered, your group is ready to start transactions.
