Every Community Savings and Lending Group has its own group rules. The group rules involve setting up the following -

- Meeting dates

- Required contribution amount

- Borrowing limit; and

- Loan repayment terms

The great thing about MiKashBoks is that it lets you set the rules for your group exactly how you traditionally operate today!

When recording a group meeting, the first step is to enter Share deposits. Once that’s completed, you can then proceed to record Social Fund contributions.

In Escrow groups, members have the option to deposit directly through the app or hand over their contribution to the Group Admin, who can then make the deposit on their behalf.

Follow the steps below to get started.

To know how to Create a Community Savings & Lending Group - ESCROW

First, click " OPEN GROUP CASHBOX"

Then select "Community savings and lending association"
And click ''CONTINUE'' on the pop-up to proceed

Choose "Mobile Money" - Everyone will have to link their Mobile money wallets to be able to make transactions like deposits by themselves

Name your group and provide a brief description.

Choose your transaction day. It can be daily, weekly or monthly.

Set your share price and then how much will be due by each transaction date. For more on this, check out:

Set your Social Fund. It can be any amount, a flat amount, or a range. This will be due at each meeting.

Set how much a member can request for a loan.

Also, you can set how Loans can be approved, Loan repayment installments as well as grace period.

Here, you can set voting approvals needed for a lending request for both members and Admin

Set the fees, or margin, that a member will pay for their loan.

Lastly, review your settings and make sure everything looks right. If you need to change anything, click edit.

If everything looks good, click "Create Group"

After you create your group, click on "Invite Members next"

To know how to add members both automatically and manually:

  • Automatically (Saved contact)

To start, tap ‘Invite Members Next’ right after setting the group rules or find your group in the ‘Forming Groups’ section of your dashboard.

You will see a list of your contacts.

Scroll to find the member you want to add and tap on their name.

Alternatively, use the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top of the screen to find a contact.

Each added member will appear at the top of the screen. Tap on their name to edit their details, then click the green checkmark to proceed.

That's it!
The selected members will receive group invitations via SMS.

  • Manually (Unsaved contact)

If a contact is not saved in your phone, Tap ‘Invite Members Next’ after setting the group rules or find your group in the ‘Forming Groups’ section.

Tap the green circle, then select ‘Add Members’.

A list of contacts will appear. Find and select the member, or use the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top of the screen to find a contact.

Verify the member’s name and phone number, then select their gender and assign a member ID.

Add their address if needed, then tap ‘Next’.

Click ‘Add Member’ to confirm

For members without a phone number, tap ‘Add Manually’

Enter their name, gender, and ID number (if applicable), leaving the phone number blank.

Confirm that they don’t have a phone. If they do, tap ‘Update Phone’ to enter their number

Each added member will appear at the top. Tap on a name to edit details if needed.

If a member was added by mistake:

Tap their name. Click the three dots at the top-right corner. Select ‘Remove’ to delete them.

Once all members have been added, tap the green arrow to proceed.

Review the list of invited members and add an optional message. Then, tap the green checkmark to send invitations.

Each member with a phone will receive an SMS containing a six-digit code, which enables them to receive group notifications.

You'll see a confirmation screen with next steps. If a member does not have a smartphone, they will still receive an SMS code, which you can collect to activate their notifications.

After inviting members, return to your group on the dashboard. Tap on a member's name to enter their six-digit code.

Once all codes have been entered, your group is ready to start transactions.

To start recording transactions:

  • To collect Share deposit

Select 'Deposit for Member' and enter the deposit amount
Then select 'Confirm Le. 2 Taken'

Next, you will be presented with a list of Group members for you to select

After selecting, you can choose deposit medium.
'Send Deposit Request' sends a request to the Group Member
'Proceed with Cash Deposit' if Admin is proceeding to make the deposit on the Group Member's behalf
'(Group Member) will Deposit via Mobile App' is for Members that can proceed with their transactions via Mobile money by themselves

If Admin is recording cash received from Group Member, enter the amount and click on 'Confirm [Le 2] Taken'

You will then be presented with a list of all deposits for you to submit
Click on 'Submit Deposits' to proceed

Next, click on 'Continue' if all is in order

You'll have a moment to review all entries made so far before clicking on 'Continue' to proceed

Then toggle on 'Social Fund' to record and click on 'Continue'

  • To collect Social Fund

Next, click on 'Collect Deposits' to start recording Social Found

From this screen, you can either send a Deposit Request to Group Members or click continue to record cash received

Next, you will be presented with a list of Group members for you to select

After selecting, you can choose deposit medium.
'Send Deposit Request' sends a request to the Group Member
'Proceed with Cash Deposit' if Admin is proceeding to make the deposit on the Group Member's behalf
'(Group Member) will Deposit via Mobile App' is for Members that can proceed with their transactions via Mobile money by themselves

If Admin is recording cash received from Group Member, enter the amount and click on 'Confirm [Le 1] Taken'

You will then be presented with a list of all deposits for you to submit
Click on 'Submit Deposits' to proceed

Next, click on 'Continue' if all is in order

You'll have a moment to review all entries made so far before clicking on 'Continue' to proceed

You can then click on 'Continue' to proceed with entries

Next, click on 'Process Loan Request' to proceed

To know how to Record Loan Requests

Click on 'Continue' to initiate the process

Next, you will be presented with a list of Group members for you to select

After selecting, you can choose medium of disbursement.
'Send Loan by E-Money' sends Loan to the Group Member via Mobile money
'Proceed with Cash Loan' if Admin is proceeding to provide the loan in cash

To know how to make a Loan Request (Borrowing)

Enter the amount you intend to borrow as well as a brief 'Reason'
Then select 'Submit'

Next, you will be presented with a list of Group members for you to select

After selecting, you can choose medium of disbursement.
'Send Loan by E-Money' sends Loan to the Group Member via Mobile money
'Proceed with Cash Loan' if Admin is proceeding to provide the loan in cash

Next, click 'Submit' to proceed

You can then review entries and then click 'Submit Loan Request'

Once requests have been submitted, it'll await Approval

To know how to Close the meeting

After reconciling all balances, click on 'Convert to E-Money' to proceed

Give it a few seconds to process your payment

Next, you will have to confirm payment transaction via mobile money

By clicking on 'Confirm' you'll be redirected to your dialpad to complete your mobile money transaction.
Click on 'Call' to proceed

Next, you can enter your mobile money password to approve

On the next page, select the most recent transaction by entering 1, then click 'Send'

To confirm transaction, enter 1 again and click 'Send' to complete your transaction

You'll then receive a payment confirmation from your mobile money service provider

In-app, you'll also receive a Success notification to inform you of your transaction

To know how to End Meeting

To Close a meeting, all pending Loan Requests must be reviewed before clicking 'Continue'

Next, you can set a date for the next meeting

And then 'Close Meeting'

Your Group Dashboard will be updated instantly to reflect all transactions recorded
