How to Create a Poll

Polls, multiple-choice posts that members of your minga community can vote on are a great way to collect consensus and engage everyone. Before you begin, ensure you have a clear goal for your poll to keep the engagement focused and useful.

Step-by-step guide to Adding a Poll

  1. Click the Add Post button found at the top of your Home Feed.

  2. Select Poll from the list of post types to open the poll creator.

Customizing your Poll Content

You can create a poll that fits your specific needs by choosing between structured responses or quick emotional feedback.

Step-by-step guide to Customizing your Poll Content

  1. Select your Poll Type from the two available options:

    • Multiple Choice: Use this for specific answers where you provide the text.

    • Emotive: Use this for a quick "vibe check" using preset reaction faces.

  2. Type your question into the Enter Question field using clear, action-oriented language.

  3. Choose a Background to make your poll visually stand out in the feed.

  4. Add your response options:

    • For Multiple Choice, you must provide at least two choices and can add up to ten.

    • For Emotive, the system automatically populates three faces representing "good," "bad," and "meh."

Configuring Advanced Settings and Points

Advanced settings allow you to control the lifecycle of your poll and reward students for participating.

Step-by-step guide to Advanced Settings and Points

  1. Enter a value in the Points field to determine how many points users earn for responding.

  2. Click Preview to see how the poll will appear to your community.

  3. Select Advanced Poll Settings to refine your distribution:

    • Set a Publish Date/Time if you want the poll to appear later.

    • Toggle Pin this post to keep the poll at the top of the Home Feed.

    • Select specific Roles (e.g., Students, Teachers) allowed to participate.

  4. Set a Close poll date instead of an unpublish date.

    • Tip: Using a "Close poll date" is best practice because it keeps the results visible in the feed while preventing new votes after the deadline.

  5. Click Publish to make your poll live.

Reviewing Poll Results:

You can monitor community engagement and view data at any time. Owners and Managers can access the Polls menu to see a comprehensive list of all active and past polls, including detailed engagement levels.

  1. Start by clicking the My Content tab to access your personal polls and posts.

  2. Select your poll from the History section to view results or edit the poll.

  3. You can view the poll results here, or in your main feed by participating in the poll. Note: You will not see who voted for what option.

  4. To make changes to your poll, click on the three dots in the top right corner. Here you can Unpin the poll, Delete the poll, Edit the contents, or Report the poll.
