How to Edit a Map Widget

The map widget allows you to visualize different performance metrics across different geographic regions.

Adding Map Widgets

You can add map widgets to any reports that live within the My Reports section. Simply click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the report to open the edit view, then follow the below steps:

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Add Widget icon in the top right hand corner.

  2. Next, select Maps from the widget dropdown list.

  3. The Map Widget will then be added to the bottom of your report dashboard for you to customize based on your goals.

Editing Map Widget Data

You can customize the dimension and metrics displayed in your map widget by editing the widget data.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Edit pencil icon in the top right corner of the Map Widget to open the Map Widget modal.

  2. Use the Data tab in the Map Widget modal to select your desired Dimension. The Dimension represents how your metric will be pivoted. Available dimensions include World, United States of America, DMAs, or State level.

  3. After defining your Dimension, select your desired Metric. The Metric represents what values are being shown on the map. Common metrics include Spend, Impressions, Visits, and Conversions, among others. You can view all available metrics from the Glossary of Reporting Metrics.

  4. Finally, you can use the Portaling option to instantly chart any data point or metric from a Data Widget onto your Map Widget.

  5. Once complete, save your changes by clicking Done.

Tip: Portaling allows you to click on any data widget on this report and plot the data instantly on this chart. Clicking on the data widget again will reset the chart to its default metric. This is a great way to get a varied visualization of performance across a variety of charts and widgets.

Editing Map Widget Appearance

You can customize the appearance of your map widget from the Appearance tab.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Edit pencil icon from the right corner of the Map widget to open the Map Widget modal.

  2. Use the Appearance tab in the Map Widget modal to control your Title, Display Labels, and Display Legend features.

    • The Title field will allow you to change the labeling of your Map Widget.

    • The Display Labels toggle allows you to control including or excluding labels for the regions on your map.

    • The Display Legend toggle allows you to control including or excluding a legend for the Metric displayed in your heat map.

  3. Once complete, save your changes by clicking Done.

Duplicating Map Widgets

You can duplicate an existing map widget to copy its attributes to a new widget.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Duplicate icon from the top right corner of the Map widget.

  2. Your new duplicated Map widget will appear directly below the existing Map widget.

Resizing Map Widgets

You can resize your data widget to adjust how it appears or fits within your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, hover over the bottom right corner of your Map Widget until the resize arrow appears.

  2. Click and drag the bottom right corner to adjust the width and height of your Map Widget.

Moving Map Widgets

You can move your map widget to adjust where it lives in your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, click the Map Widget hen drag and drop to adjust its location.

  2. You can drag the widget left and right, or up and down to control its position and orientation on your dashboard.

Deleting Map Widgets

You can delete map widgets to remove them from your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the "x" icon in the top right of your Map widget to Delete the widget.

  2. After deleting your Map widget, any surrounding widgets will shift upwards to fill the space left behind by the Map widget.
