Launching your MNTN campaign is exciting for any business, but the key to its success is clearly understanding its initial performance.

This guide serves as your essential tool for understanding the initial metrics of your MNTN campaign, enabling you to make informed, data-driven decisions, whether you're a newcomer to the field or an experienced professional.

Initial Performance Key Considerations

1️⃣ Ramp Up Time

Purchase Cycle: Consider the average time a customer takes to visit your site before converting. Purchase cycles are unique to each business, as they widely depend on the industry, vertical, and products and services advertised on your site. This is an important consideration when it comes to analyzing performance on MNTN.

When launching, you will see performance ramp within the length of your sales cycle. For example, if your sales cycle is three days, performance should normalize within 3-4 days as conversions deliver. If your sales cycle is much longer, factor in that time as you would with your other performance channels.

Verified Visit Window: The default visit window for MNTN prospecting campaigns is 14 days and 7 days for MNTN retargeting campaigns. It's important to factor in your account level visit window settings when analyzing performance alongside your purchase cycle window.

Optimization: Our technology leverages data collected during your ramp-up period to identify site visits and conversion patterns to refine automated optimizations.

Avoid Significant Changes in the first few weeks: To maximize our technology's optimization potential, refrain from making substantial changes to your campaign setup during your ramp time unless advised by a MNTN support team member.

2️⃣ MNTN Performance Dashboard

The MNTN Performance Dashboard is a centralized hub where you can conveniently access and closely monitor campaign metrics, specifically within the first month of your live campaign.

Many of these report metrics are detailed in the performance cheat sheet below.

This dashboard provides a comprehensive view of your campaign's progress and performance indicators, making it an invaluable tool for effectively managing and optimizing your campaign.

💡Note: If this report is unavailable in the My Reports section of your account's reporting, please get in touch with a member of your MNTN support team.

Performance Metric Benchmarks

Naturally, you might wonder about the specific benchmarks and ideal figures to aim for when evaluating your performance metrics.

These metrics should generally align with the patterns and numbers your team is accustomed to seeing in your social media campaigns after your ramp-up period.

However, remember that the performance metrics can vary based on:

⭐️ The nature of your marketing campaigns

⭐️ Your target audience

⭐️ Your specific business objectives

⭐️ Creatives utilized

Therefore, it's crucial to understand what's typical for your industry and your unique circumstances.

Considerations when Analyzing Initial Performance in GA4

1️⃣ To see sessions appear in your GA4 dashboard, allowing time for a completed MNTN attribution window is essential, just as you would when monitoring performance in MNTN's Reporting Dashboard. This waiting period is necessary because MNTN sends verified visit data to GA4 through the GA Measurement Protocol API.

💡Note: To gain a deeper understanding of the data that MNTN transfers to GA4 and learn how to analyze MNTN performance within GA4, check out this article.

2️⃣ Leverage the Traffic Acquisition report and view data categorization as Session Source/Medium.

3️⃣ Leverage the Sessions metric as your primary source of truth for evaluating visit data, as the Session metric is where MNTN's Verified Visits are reported.

4️⃣ It's important to note that MNTN doesn't transfer any conversion data from MNTN to GA4. GA4 event attribution will depend on your specific attribution settings within Google Analytics.
