Overview:
You can set up alerts on the Morningstar Australia website to track specific securities, including shares, managed funds, ETFs, hybrids/credits, and LICs/LITs. Alerts notify you of Morningstar research updates, rating changes, or price movements. Alerts are only visible when you are signed in to your account (email notifications are not currently available).
Types of Alerts Available
You can choose from three types of alerts:
Morningstar Research – Get notified when analysts publish new research on your security, including fund reports, analyst notes, sustainability commentary, or white papers.
Morningstar Ratings Changes – Be notified if the Morningstar Star Rating™ for your security changes.
Price Target – Receive an alert when the price of a security rises or falls to a threshold you specify (based on 20-minute delayed pricing).
How to Set an Alert
To Set alerts on the website, Follow the below steps.
Setting Alerts from a Security's Details Page
Search for a stock, managed fund, or other security using the search box.
From the search results, click the security name to open its details page.
On the Security details page, click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right-hand side.
Select Add Alerts from the dropdown menu.
Toggle one or more alert types on (Research, Rating Change, or Price Target).
Setting Alerts from the 'My Alerts' Section
Note: If you have not set up any alerts yet, the bell icon will appear greyed out. To get started, go to My Account → My Alerts → Add Alerts.
Click the bell icon at the top right (next to Help) → View all alerts.
Click your name at the top right → select My Alerts → Add alerts.
Search for a security → open the three-dot menu → select Add alerts.
How to Edit or Delete Existing Alerts
Click your name at the top right and select My Alerts.
Click on "Manage" option and you can choose how to view your alerts: By company name or By alert type.
To edit an alert, click the pencil icon under the Action column located on the right
To delete an alert, click the trash icon under the Action column located on the right
Additional Notes
Alerts are shown only when you are signed in to your account.
Email notifications are not currently supported. You must log in to view alerts.
If you miss an alert, you can still find it later by clicking the bell icon on the Homepage Located on top right
Troubleshooting: Not Receiving Alerts
If you have set up alerts but are not seeing them when you sign in, follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Verify your alerts are active
Click your name at the top right and select My Alerts.
Click Manage and confirm the relevant alerts are listed and toggled on.
If an alert is missing, re-add it by going to the security's details page, clicking the three-dot menu (⋮), and selecting Add Alerts.
Step 2: Check alert visibility
Alerts are only visible when you are signed in to your account. Confirm you are logged in to premium.morningstar.com.au.
Click the bell icon at the top right to view your alerts panel. If alerts are listed there, they are working correctly.
Note: Email notifications for alerts are not currently supported. Alerts can only be viewed when signed in.
Step 3: Try basic browser troubleshooting
Clear your browser cache and cookies, then sign in again. Cached data can sometimes prevent alerts from displaying correctly.
Try accessing the site in an Incognito or Private browsing window.
Try a different browser (e.g. Google Chrome or Firefox).
Step 4: Contact support
If alerts are still not appearing after completing the steps above, please contact our support team. To help us investigate, you may be asked to provide a HAR file — a recording of your browser's network activity. See our Basic Troubleshooting guide for instructions on how to download one.
