How to Find Investments Overlapping with Your Managed Funds

Learn how to identify stocks and other investments that are also held within your managed funds using the Stock Overlap section, Ownership pages, and Investment Screener.

If you want to see which investments in your portfolio may also be held within your managed funds, the most accurate way to do this is through the Stock Overlap section. You can also use the Ownership section on a stock's security page or the Investment Screener as additional methods.

Method 1: Stock Overlap (Recommended)

The Stock Overlap section gives you the clearest view of which individual investments appear across your managed funds. To use it, you first need to create a portfolio and add all of your managed funds to it.

Step 1: Create a Portfolio

  1. Go to Track Investments from the menu on the left.

  2. Select Portfolios, then create a new portfolio.

  3. Add all of your managed funds to this portfolio.

Step 2: View Stock Overlap

  1. Open the portfolio you just created.

  2. Navigate to the Stock Overlap section.

  3. Here you will see a breakdown of investments that appear across multiple managed funds in your portfolio, along with their weighting in each fund.

Tip: For the most accurate overlap results, make sure you have added all of your managed funds to the portfolio before reviewing the Stock Overlap section.

Method 2: Ownership Section on a Stock's Security Page

If you want to check which managed funds hold a specific stock, you can use the Ownership section on that stock's security page.

  1. Search for the stock you are interested in and open its security page.

  2. Go to the Ownership section.

  3. You will see a list of funds that hold this stock, along with the percentage of the fund invested in it.

This method is useful for checking one stock at a time, but it does not give you a consolidated view across all of your managed funds.

Method 3: Investment Screener

The Investment Screener lets you filter and discover investments across stocks, funds, and ETFs using a range of criteria. While it is not designed specifically for overlap analysis, it can help you identify stocks with high fund ownership.

  1. Go to Discover Investments from the menu on the left.

  2. Select Screeners.

  3. Click Add Filter and choose your investment type (for example, Stocks).

  4. Apply filters to narrow your results by the criteria most relevant to you.

Note: Screener results cannot be exported, so you will need to review them on screen.

For a full overlap report across all of your managed funds, we recommend using the Stock Overlap section via a portfolio as described in Method 1.
