Overview

The new Investment Screener in Morningstar Investor gives you a more flexible way to find and review investments. You can define an investment universe, apply detailed filters and classifications, and customise the data columns shown in the results table. This helps you narrow a broad list to investments that meet the criteria you select.

The screener supports stocks, funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), listed investment companies (LICs) and superannuation investments. For stocks, you can refine results using criteria such as exchange, sector, industry, Morningstar Ratings, income, financial strength, profitability, valuation, growth and performance.

Compared with the classic screener, the new experience provides expanded filtering options, more detailed security classifications and a broader selection of data columns. You can use these options to create a focused results list and display the information most relevant to your research.

Important

The new Investment Screener is currently in trial mode and is still being refined. Most planned functionality is available, but features, labels and navigation may change during the trial.

Refining Filtered Results

Your selected Investment Type and applied filters define the investments included in the results table.

To find a specific investment within the filtered results, enter all or part of its name or ticker in Search by Name or Ticker

The results table narrows to matching investments within the selected Investment Type. Select the X in the search field to clear the entry and return to the broader results list.

Understanding the Investment Screener window

The Investment Screener window contains a results table on the left and an investment selection and filtering panel on the right. The results table shows the investments included in your selected Investment Type that meet any filters you have applied.

The selection count above the table shows how many investments you have selected. Use the checkbox beside an investment to select it. The count updates as you select or clear investments. Click on a selection again to deselect it.

Select the checkbox at the top of the first column to select all investments on the current results page. Use the adjacent three-dot menu to manage selections for the current page or across all pages of the results.

When investments are selected, choose Deselect all on current page to clear the selections displayed on the current page. Investments selected on other result pages remain selected.

Choose Deselect all across all pages to clear every selected investment from the current results set. The selected count returns to zero when all selections are cleared.

Note

The options in the selection menu depend on the current selection state. If nothing is selected you can use the menu to select options across all results pages.
