Types of Data Available

The technical data within VGM offers a wealth of diagrams and information. Below, we'll go through what each of the different subjects means:

Adjustments

Vehicle adjustment data includes various measurements for all parts of the vehicle. Examples of the type of data include:

  • Brake disc diameters

  • Brake disc thickness

  • Tyre sizes

  • Tyre pressures

  • Thermostat opening temperature

  • Oil temperature

  • Fuel pump pressure

  • Engine idle speed

Maintenance

The maintenance section offers information related to the maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle. Examples of the type of data here includes:

  • How often the oil filter should be changed

  • How to disconnect / reconnect the battery

  • How to reprogram the key

  • How to reset the service indicator

  • When to change brake fluid

  • When to change the timing belt

Lubricants

This section will give you your available options for different types of lubricants that can be used throughout the vehicle. For example:

  • What brake fluid to use

  • What gear oil to use

  • What power steering fluid to use

  • What air conditioning refrigerant to use

Drawings

Visually, the drawings are probably one of the most interesting areas of the technical data. You get access to a range of diagrams that show you how certain components fit together. This includes:

  • Expanded views of the brakes and how all the parts fit together

  • Expanded diagrams of the suspension

  • Images showing how to remove the dashboard

  • Images showing how to remove the central console

EOBD locations

EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) is a fairly small section that will offer diagrams to show you where you can access the EOBD diagnostic socket.

Fuse locations

Shows you where all the different fuses are located within the vehicle.

Stories

Procedure based section that will often show you step-by-step processes, such as installing and removing components. Examples include:

  • Clutch removal diagrams

  • Battery disconnection and reconnection

  • Airbag removal & installation

  • Cylinder head removal and installation

  • Service indicator reset

  • Timing belt installation procedure

Wiring diagrams

A comprehensive set of general wiring diagrams including:

  • Door locks

  • Supplemental restraints / Airbags

  • Air conditioning

  • Cruise control

  • Headlights

Cases

These outline various issues that the vehicle may have and present them to you in a ‘Symptom – Cause – Solution’ format. For example:

  • EGR Malfunction

  • ESP Warning light flashes

  • Engine warning light illuminates

Recalls

The recalls section will list any potential recalls that have been issued by the manufacturer.
