If your drone isn’t operating as expected, such as not taking off, losing connection, or showing camera or gimbal errors- follow these steps to get it up and running smoothly. Most issues can be resolved by applying thorough flight checks before takeoff.
All of our used equipment comes with a 14 day return period and a 6 month warranty (unless otherwise stated). Please see our Returning your Gear article for further information.
Before You Begin
Ensure you’re flying in a safe, open area with minimal signal interference, and always review local drone regulations before takeoff.
Troubleshooting Steps
Check the Battery
Make sure the drone battery is charged to at least 50% or more.
Ensure the battery is securely attached and seated correctly in its slot.
Update Firmware
Confirm that all firmware (drone, controller, and app) is up to date.
Use the DJI Fly or DJI GO app to check for notifications about firmware updates.
Verify Antenna Position
Ensure your remote controller antenna is properly extended and facing the drone for optimal signal strength.
Confirm App Connection
Check that the drone is correctly synced with your mobile device or tablet via the DJI app. Reconnect the cable or re-pair the devices if necessary.
Inspect the Camera and Gimbal
Ensure the camera and gimbal are securely attached.
Remove the gimbal cover before powering on.
If you’re experiencing image or stabilization issues, reset the camera settings in the app.
Check the SD Card
Insert a compatible microSD card into the drone.
Format the SD card in-app before flight to avoid file or recording errors.
Test Flight Modes
Try flying in different Flight Modes (Normal, Sport, Cine) to identify if the issue occurs in all settings.
Calibrate the Drone
Perform a compass and IMU calibration using the DJI app if you notice unstable flight, drifting, or navigation errors.
Inspect the Motors
Check that all motors rotate freely and are clear of dirt or debris.
Listen for unusual sounds that might indicate an obstruction.
Drone Flight Logs
When troubleshooting drone issues, flight logs are one of the most valuable tools you can use. These logs automatically record detailed flight data such as altitude, GPS position, speed, battery level, and error messages throughout each flight.
By reviewing your flight logs, you can identify what may have caused unexpected behavior, such as connection loss, drift, or an emergency landing.
To find the flight log for your drone, please check see here.
Note- Return requests for drones may require a supplied flight log.
Unbinding your Drone
DJI drones must be linked to a DJI account to access all connectivity and features associated with either the drone or its controller.
If you’re selling your drone to MPB, please make sure it’s unbound from your DJI account before sending it to us. This allows our team to fully test the item. For more details on selling your drone to MPB, please see here.
If you’ve purchased a drone that’s still bound to an account, please contact our customer support team and we’ll help resolve the issue.
