What measurement units are used in the app?

Learn about the common units and how to customize them for easier food logging

The app supports both metric and imperial measurement units, so you can choose the ones that work best for you when tracking your food, weight, water, and other measurements.


How to change your measurement units

You can customize your preferred units at any time:

  1. Go to Profile in the top left corner of the main screen.

  2. Tap Units:

  3. Choose your preferred units for weight, height, distance, water, and food:

For food measurements, you can select up to 3 main units from:

  • Oz (ounces)

  • Lb (pounds)

  • Fl oz (fluid ounces)

  • g (grams)

  • ml (milliliters)


How to add or manage food serving units

If you need a different serving unit, such as cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, or slices, you can customize the available units when creating or editing a food or recipe through New Food or New Recipe. You can:

  • Hide a unit you don't need by swiping left on it.

  • Add a custom unit by tapping the plus icon ➕:


Common measurement equivalents

For quick reference:

  • Lb (pound): approximately 453.59 grams

  • Oz (ounce): approximately 28.35 grams

  • Fl oz (fluid ounce): approximately 29.57 milliliters

  • Tsp (teaspoon): approximately 5 milliliters or 0.17 fluid ounces

  • Tbsp (tablespoon): 3 teaspoons, approximately 15 milliliters or 0.51 fluid ounces

  • Cup: approximately 240 milliliters or 8.12 fluid ounces for a US cup; a metric cup is 250 milliliters or 8.45 fluid ounces.

These equivalents are approximate and can vary depending on the measurement system or the type of food being measured. For food logging, it's best to use the serving size shown on the product label or recipe whenever possible.
