SPOTIFY FOR ARTISTS:
Spotify for Artists is a fantastic free tool for you to have more control over your artist profile. You will have the possibility to pitch your music to Spotify playlists, monitor your statistics, update your pictures/bio and many more things. To gain access, Spotify will require you to have either a Premium or Standard (free) Spotify account. You can then claim your artist profile here:
You can gain access to your profile once a release has been accepted by Spotify. There are two different scenarios for when to gain access:
Gaining access to an already active profile:
If you are registering and already have releases published on Spotify, you can simply search for your artist profile within the ‘claim profile’ with the link above. This can either be done by typing your artist name into the search bar, or by pasting the URI for your profile. You can find your artist URI on the Spotify profile itself. Click on the three dots on your profile, scroll down to share, and then click ‘Copy link to artist’. We would recommend to do this with the web browser of Spotify, rather than the app. If you do copy directly from the app, you may have to delete some extra letters and numbers that have been added to the link.
Gaining access to a profile before your first release has been published:
You can gain access to the profile before ever having a published release. Once you have submitted a release with MusicHub, and it has passed the QC check, the status of your release will then change to ‘Approved’. We will then send the release to Spotify in preparation for your release day. A couple of days after we have sent the data to Spotify, a hidden artist profile will then be opened, but will not be publicly visible. The link (Artist URI) for this profile is then sent from Spotify back to us. Send us a message, and we can forward you this link, you can then add the URI to the ‘claim profile’ above, and access your account in advance of the release.
The link that you enter into the search field at Spotify, should include all of the text that we send you, for example:
Approval process:
In order for Spotify to give you access to your artist profile via Spotify for Artists, they need to make sure that you are, in fact, the artist or part of the artists team. So before you request access to your artist profile, please make sure that you have some (but not necessarily all) of the following available:
Your official artist website where the same email address you’re using to claim your Spotify artist profile is visible. (the MusicHub bio page page is not considered an offical artist website). The name on the website must match the artist/band that you are registering.
A social media channel of the artist/band name (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, MySpace, or Bandcamp) where the email address you’re using to claim your Spotify artist profile is visible.
(Note: If you don't have, or don't want to have, any social media channels, the best solution is to create a temporary profile: Make sure to give it your artist name, add a few artist pics and the images from your release, and make sure to include the same email address you’re using to claim your Spotify artist profile in your artist bio. Then, when you have access to your Spotify Artists Profile, you can delete this temporary profile if you want.)
If you are the artists manager and are claiming the artist's profile on their behalf, you need both:
A link to your company website where we see the artist you’re claiming listed on the roster. (Keep in mind, if you’re a manager we also want to see that the management company’s name is the domain name of
The email address you’re using to claim the profile should have the management company’s name as the domain name
A few things to bear in mind:
All links need to be set to public to that Spotify can see them
Your email address should be clearly visible
The music on the website or social media channel must match the content on your Spotify artist profile
Please be aware that this is Spotify's tool that they are offering to you as an artist, we unfortunately cannot help you with the approval process. If you are 100 percent sure of what you have submitted and they reject it, we recommend trying again.
Pitching to Spotify Playlists:
Once your release has been accepted by Spotify, it will at some point show up in your ‘upcoming releases’ within your Spotify for Artists account. You will then have the opportunity to pitch it directly to Spotify editorials for the chance to appear on a Spotify curated playlist. Users can only pitch one song at a time, and will only be able to pitch the next song, after the first has been released.
