In order to ensure that your cover image is always displayed at the best possible quality, we require it to be at least 3000 x 3000 pixels in size. If your image does not have these dimensions, this article will show you how to re-size it using free tools on a Mac or a PC.

We’ll first take a look on the process on a Mac, and after that go through the steps for PC.

Steps for Mac:

Before changing the size of you imagine, you should first make sure that it is square (i.e. the height and width are the same).

On a Mac, use Finder to locate your image file. Using the ‘Columns’ view, you will be able to see the dimensions of your image:

If the two numbers are the same, you can move onto resizing your image.

If the two numbers are not the same, you will need to go back to your designer or your design program and make sure that the image is exactly square. It is possible to change the dimensions using the same steps to resize your artwork however you might end up distorting the image.

The next step is to open your artwork with the Preview application:

Preview comes standard with every Mac and you can usually open an image in Preview simply by double-clicking on the image file.

Once your image is open in Preview, in the ‘Tools’ menu select the option to ‘Adjust Size’.

Make sure the measurement is set to ‘Pixels’ and then adjust the amount for both the height and the width to 3000.

By default, Preview is set to adjust both measurements together in order keep your image in proportion - so if you change one of the measurements to 3000 the other will adjust automatically. If this doesn’t happen, make sure that ‘Scale Proportionally’ is checked.

Save your file once the changes have been made. Your cover image is now ready to upload to MusicHub!

Steps for PC:

Before changing the size of you imagine, you should first make sure that it is square (i.e. the height and width are the same).

On a PC, use File Explorer to locate your image file. Right-click on the file and select Properties from the bottom of the menu.

When in Properties, click on the details tab. This will show you the dimensions of the image.

If the two numbers are the same, you can move onto resizing your image.

If the two numbers are not the same, you will need to go back to your designer or your design program and make sure that the image is exactly square (i.e. that the height and width are the same). It is possible to change the dimensions using the same steps to resize your artwork however you might end up distorting the image.

The next step is to open your artwork with the Photos application.

Photos comes standard with every PC and you can usually open an image in Photos simply by double-clicking on the image file.

Once your image is open in Photos, click on the three dots in the menu on the top bar and select ‘Resize Image'.

Next, select ‘Define Custom Dimensions’.

Adjust the amount for both the height and the width to 3000.

By default, Photos is set to adjust both measurements to keep your image in proportion - so if you change one of the measurements to 3000 the other will adjust automatically. If this doesn’t happen, make sure that ‘Maintain aspect ratio’ is checked.

Save your file once the changes have been made. Your cover image is now ready to upload to MusicHub!
