Teacher: Guidance on sensitive data

For teachers: How we keep sensitive data and guidance on how you can use the platform safely

Updated over 2 months ago

We recognise that in creating an account with us and moving through the vetting process, you are sharing some sensitive personal data. This article will explain how our system keeps this information safe and offers guidance on how you can use the platform safely.

Keeping your information safe during the vetting process

Enhanced disclosure

Upload your enhanced disclosure certificate, rather than emailing it to us. To do so:

When a certificate is sent to us in this way, we encrypt the content to keep it as safe as possible. Once we review the certificate, it will be accepted or rejected. We do not retain certificates. Instead, we add secure and confidential notes of the information found on a certificate.

ID verification

Using our automated system, Trust ID means you do not need to send us copies of important identity information. The system works by asking you to take a selfie and a photograph of a photo ID document. A database search then verifies your address. Using the automated system is the safest and quickest way to verify your ID with us.

Need an alternative to the automatic system?

No problem, book a video call with us. One of our team will meet with you to view your photo ID and proof of address document. We do not retain copies of these documents. Instead, we make secure and confidential notes on the documents used to verify your ID.

What information is shared with students once you are published on the platform?

We take care not to disclose your personal information to students. If you offer in-person tuition at your home, your public profile will not show your complete address. Instead, the first part of your postcode is displayed, alongside a map marker showing the area. Your email and phone number are never shared with students.

Display name

Although we have details of your full name, you can set your display name to any you choose. The display name is what the student sees when they view your profile.
