Preserving Edits to Toast POS Data

Learn how to preserve edits to menu text after importing data from Toast POS.

Updated yesterday

The automatic updates were designed to keep MustHaveMenus designs in sync with a Toast POS system, but there may be instances where Toast data is imported into a menu, and then edited. In order to preserve those edits, and prevent the text from being overridden by the POS data, the following steps will need to be followed.

Preserving Edits to Toast POS Data

From within the design editor, select Item Library from the left.

From the Item Library, locate the desired Toast POS menu, and select Copy.

From the pop up that appears, select OK.

The original POS menu data will be copied into a new menu.

Rename the menu for clarity.

From the top, select the toggle for Allow Sync.

Toggling the sync off means that this version of menu data will not update as changes are made within the POS.

Items will no longer show as greyed out, and will now be editable.

Make changes to menu items, then select Publish Changes.

Then select Add to Design.

Menu Groups will show on the left, beneath My Menu Groups.

For future edits, do not make changes directly on the design, but instead return to the Item Library, locate the desired menu, and make changes within the Item Library. This will ensure that the most up to date version of a menu is accessible across all designs, while not syncing with the Toast POS data.
