Instead of using My Digital CMO's generic domain, a custom domain gives you a web address that matches your business or brand. For example, instead of 'app.mydigitalcmo.io', you can have 'app.yourcompanyname.com' to access My Digital CMO instead.

Who can add a CNAME?

Adding a CNAME or 'Canonical Name' record is available to users on the team plan in My Digital CMO. The CNAME record is a type of DNS (Domain Name System) record that maps an alias name to a true or canonical domain name.

Step 1: How to Setup A Custom Domain

After adding a custom domain in My Digital CMO, you'll need to go to your domain provider's site and add an A record in the DNS settings. This will point your domain to My Digital CMO. Here's how you can do this:

1. Login to your domain provider's site.

2. Navigate to the DNS settings page (it could also be under 'Domain Management', 'DNS Manager', 'Domain Settings', etc., depending on your provider).

3. Look for an option to 'Add Record' or 'Create Record'.

4. Select 'A' as the record type.

5. In the 'Host' or 'Alias' field, enter your custom domain from My Digital CMO (e.g. strategy.[yourcompany.com] )

6. In the 'Points to' or 'Target' field, enter '76.76.21.21'.

7. Save your changes.

Important: After setting up a new DNS record, it can take up to 10 minutes or more for your domain to secure SSL when first entering the domain in a browser window. During this time, when displaying your new url in a browser it might be inaccessible or display security warnings. This is normal and will resolve once the SSL certificate is fully propagated.

Always approach this process with patience and accuracy. If you're unsure or need further assistance, don't hesitate to contact your domain provider or the My Digital CMO support team.

Additional note for Cloudflare Users: please be aware that in case you're utilizing Cloudflare please disable the proxy when the DNS records are set. This step ensures smooth operation of your domain settings.
