1. Before You Begin
On Amazon there are two steps to get your product into fulfillment centers:
Listing products - Creating SKUs and assigning price, condition, notes, and other marketplace attributes
Shipping products - Creating shipments, prep/labeling products, submitting box content information, and purchasing shipping labels. All the steps AFTER listing to get your product out the door and moving into Amazon’s fulfillment centers.
Today we’re going to go over Step 2, creating an inbound shipment through AccelerList.
Before you begin,
Please read the Listing Workflow Tutorial (2025) [WIP]. You need to first create a batch and have a few items listed before you can create a shipment.
Please wait until you see the green ASIN SYNC COMPLETE indicator inside your batch. Amazon’s API takes between 15 minutes to 1 hour to create fully create a SKU in their system, and we won’t be able to create an inbound plan until that has been created.
If there are some products that are stuck in the “syncing” state or “errored” state, you need to remove those products from your batch to move forward.
2. Creating Your Inbound Plan
Once you are done listing, you should see the blue Create Inbound Plan button.
Clicking that button will kick off the process of telling Amazon to create a shipment, with the SKUs in your batch.
3. Generating & Confirming Packing Options
After the inbound plan has been created, you’ll be asked to Generate Packing Options. Click the blue button to move forward.
In most cases, you will get one packing group option and can move forward by just clicking Continue.
4. Submitting Box Content Information
This is how Amazon’s fulfillment centers reconcile what SKUs/quantity exist in each box. As you pack your products into boxes, we provide a user-friendly way to reconcile that information.
Creating a new box
Adding items to a box
Click on the box you just added:
That will open up this popup. Scan your items into that input.
If you choose “AutoPrint”, AccelerList will automatically print an FNSKU label for for each product that is scanned in. Alternatively, you can click the print icon manually next to a product to print.
PRO TIP: One-box workflow (books & media)
For books and media resellers that are shipping fewer than 100 books a week on average, we strongly recommend the one-box workflow. You can simply click “Add All” to avoid dealing with box contents at all, which is a big timesaver for most people.
PRO TIP: 5-box split (wholesale, RA, OA)
Amazon gives you a discount on placement fees if you send 5+ boxes of the same box contents to multiple fulfillment centers.
AccelerList helps you save those fees. Just ensure that you split your items into 5+ boxes and the quantity is the same. We give you the option to create one box and duplicate those, hassle-free.
5. Selecting Fulfillment Center(s) and Carriers
The next step in the process is called placement (deciding which fulfillment centers to send your products into), and transportation (deciding which shipping carriers to use).
Amazon’s API gives you a few options for placement and transportation to choose from.
To preview those options, click Generate Placement Preview. This takes a few minutes and will show you all the fulfillment centers.
After a few minutes, transportation options will appear. In this case, there are three fulfillment center options.
In our experience, we’ve found sellers typically have a “preferred” fulfillment center that processes their items fastest. If you are new to FBA, we suggest trying to a few different fulfillment centers to gather your own experience.
Once your placement options have appeared, click Get Transport Options to preview the shipping options offered at that fulfillment center.
Once loaded, you’ll see the carrier options. Keep in mind:
AP = Amazon-Partnered Carrier
NP = Non Amazon-Partnered Carrier
If the provided option is Amazon-Partnered, you will see an exact price in the dropdown option.
Otherwise, you will see Amazon’s rough estimate of the shipping cost, but you will need to work with the carrier directly to purchase the label and arrange pickup.
Amazon-Partnered options will always show up first in the list whenever available.
If you do not see an Amazon-partnered carrier, you can click Get Transport Options on another placement option to preview the options there. Sometimes Amazon’s API doesn’t provide an Amazon-Partnered option.
From personal experience, I’ve found that, in almost all cases, at least one of the three options contains the UPS option.
Click Continue to confirm the placement option and move to the next step.
Printing Shipping Labels
We’re almost done! The final step is to print your shipping labels.
