Hazmat Review Error When Creating an FBA Shipment

This guide explains why the **Hazmat review error occurs during FBA shipment creation and how to quickly resolve it so you can proceed with sending your inventory to Amazon.

Overview

If you encounter an error stating that additional information is required to complete the Hazmat review, it means Amazon has flagged the product for a Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) review. Amazon must verify that the product is safe to store and ship through their fulfillment centers before allowing it to be included in an FBA shipment.

This review is common for products such as cosmetics, cleaning products, liquids, sprays, batteries, or items containing chemicals or alcohol.


Why This Error Appears

When creating an FBA shipment, Amazon checks whether the product requires a Hazmat safety review. If the product has not yet been reviewed, Amazon will block it from being added to the shipment until the required information is submitted.

You may see an error message similar to:

“Additional information is mandatory in order to complete the Hazmat review.”

This means Amazon needs additional product safety information before approving the item for FBA.


How to Resolve the Hazmat Review

Step 1: Go to Amazon Seller Central

Log in to your Amazon Seller Central account.

Step 2: Navigate to Your Inventory

Go to:

Inventory → Manage All Inventory

Step 3: Locate the Product

Search for the product using the ASIN or SKU.

Step 4: Check the Dangerous Goods Review

If the item requires a Hazmat review, you will see an option to Provide Dangerous Goods Information or Complete Hazmat Review.

Click the link and complete the required information.

Step 5: Submit the Required Details

Amazon may ask for:

  • Confirmation if the item contains liquids, batteries, or flammable materials

  • Product ingredient information

  • A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) (for certain chemical products)

Once submitted, Amazon will review the information.


Fastest Way to Clear This Error

In many cases, the fastest way to resolve this issue is to manually confirm the product is not hazardous.

Quick Method

  1. Go to Manage All Inventory in Seller Central

  2. Locate the affected ASIN

  3. Click Provide Dangerous Goods Information

  4. Answer the questionnaire confirming the item is not hazardous

For many products such as face wipes, cosmetics, or household items, this questionnaire can be completed in just a few minutes.

After submission, Amazon will usually update the Hazmat status within a few minutes to several hours.


Important Notes

  • This is not an AccelerList error. The restriction comes directly from Amazon’s Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) system.

  • The item cannot be added to an FBA shipment until the review is completed.

  • Some items may require an SDS document, which can take longer to review.


After the Hazmat Review Is Approved

Once Amazon completes the review and approves the product:

  1. Return to AccelerList or Seller Central

  2. Recreate or continue your FBA shipment

  3. The item should now be allowed in the shipment without errors
