What Is an FBA Shipment?

Learn what an FBA shipment is and how sending inventory to Amazon allows them to handle storage, packing, and shipping for your orders.

Updated today

An FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) shipment is the process of sending your inventory to Amazon’s warehouses so they can store, pack, and ship your products to customers on your behalf.

Instead of handling orders yourself, Amazon takes care of the fulfillment once your items are received.

📦 How FBA Shipments Work

  1. Create a shipment plan
You select the products and quantities you want to send to Amazon.

  2. Prepare your items
Each item must be labeled (FNSKU) and prepped according to Amazon’s requirements.

  3. Enter box content details
You specify what items and quantities are inside each box.

  4. Generate shipping labels
Amazon provides box labels to attach to your packages.

  5. Send the shipment
You ship your boxes to the assigned Amazon fulfillment centers.

  6. Amazon receives your inventory
Once received, your items become available for sale under FBA.

🚚 What Happens After You Send It

After your shipment arrives:

  • Amazon checks and processes your inventory

  • Items are marked as available for sale

  • Amazon handles:

    • Packing 📦

    • Shipping 🚚

    • Customer service 💬

    • Returns 🔄

⚙️ Why Use FBA

Using FBA allows you to:

  • Save time on order fulfillment

  • Offer Prime shipping to customers

  • Scale your business without managing logistics

  • Focus more on sourcing and listing products

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Your shipment must match the box content information you provide

  • Incorrect quantities or labeling can cause:

    • Delays

    • Receiving issues

    • Additional fees

Summary

An FBA shipment is how you send inventory to Amazon so they can handle storage, shipping, and customer service for your orders.

👉 You send the products — Amazon does the rest.
