What Is eBay Best Offer?

Learn what eBay Best Offer is, how it allows buyers and sellers to negotiate prices, and how it can help sellers manage offers on eligible listings.

eBay Best Offer is a feature that allows buyers to make an offer for an item instead of immediately purchasing it at the listed Buy It Now price. It gives buyers and sellers an opportunity to negotiate and agree on a price that works for both parties.

How Does Best Offer Work?

When Best Offer is enabled on an eligible eBay listing, buyers will see an option to Make Offer.

For example, if you have an item listed for $30, a buyer may submit an offer of $25 instead of paying the full listing price.

When you receive an offer, you can choose to:

  • Accept – Agree to sell the item at the buyer's offered price.

  • Decline – Reject the offer.

  • Counteroffer – Respond with a different price you are willing to accept.

Why Use Best Offer?

Best Offer can be helpful when you are willing to negotiate on an item's price. This can be especially useful for items such as:

  • Used books

  • Collectibles

  • Rare or higher-priced items

  • Older inventory that you would like to sell more quickly

It allows you to keep your preferred asking price while still giving interested buyers an opportunity to negotiate.

Automatic Offer Settings

For eligible listings, eBay may also allow you to set rules for handling offers automatically.

For example, you may be able to specify an amount at which an offer should be automatically accepted or declined. This can save time when you receive multiple offers.

Best Offer and AccelerList

When working with eBay listings through AccelerList, the availability of Best Offer may depend on the listing method and the features currently supported by the eBay integration.

If you want to use Best Offer for an item, review the available eBay listing options in AccelerList before publishing the listing.

Important

Enabling Best Offer does not mean you have to accept every offer you receive. You can review offers and decide whether the proposed price works for you before accepting the sale.
