How to Avoid Sending the Wrong Item in an FBA Shipment

Provides practical steps for verifying SKUs, quantities, conditions, and box assignments to prevent incorrect inventory from being sent to Amazon.

Sending an incorrect product to Amazon can create inventory and receiving problems that may be difficult to correct after the shipment has left your facility.

A few additional verification steps during box content can greatly reduce this risk.

Verify Items as You Pack

Whenever possible, verify each product against the shipment before placing it into the box.

Check:

  • Product title

  • ASIN

  • SKU/FNSKU

  • Condition

  • Quantity

  • Product label

This is especially important for books and media that may have similar titles, editions, covers, or ISBNs.

Be Careful With Multi-Box Shipments

With multiple boxes, it's possible to have the correct inventory overall but put an item into the wrong physical box.

Keep boxes clearly separated and verify that each item goes into the box where it was assigned during box content.

Use the Box Content Workflow as a Final Check

When completing box content in AccelerList, use the process as an opportunity to verify the physical inventory rather than simply confirming what's already on the screen.

If something doesn't match, correct it before completing the shipment.

Final Check Before Sealing

Before closing each box:

  1. Confirm the products inside.

  2. Confirm the quantities.

  3. Compare them with the box content information.

  4. Make sure nothing was accidentally placed in another shipment.

  5. Only then seal and label the box.
