Each box sent to Amazon needs to be correctly identified so that Amazon can associate it with the appropriate FBA shipment.
Correctly printing and applying your labels is therefore an important final step before handing your shipment to the carrier.
Use the Correct Label for Each Box
In a multi-box shipment, each box may have its own identifying label. Don't assume that labels can be placed on any box in the shipment.
After completing box content, keep each label associated with its corresponding physical box.
Where Should Labels Be Placed?
For reliable scanning:
Place labels on a flat surface.
Don't place labels over a box seam.
Avoid placing them around corners or edges.
Make sure barcodes aren't covered by tape or other labels.
Keep the entire barcode clearly visible.
Remove or cover unrelated old shipping labels and barcodes when reusing a box.
Check Print Quality
Before attaching the label, make sure:
The barcode is complete.
Text is readable.
There are no missing sections.
The print isn't excessively faded or blurry.
The label isn't damaged.
If a label doesn't print correctly, reprint it rather than trying to use a barcode that may not scan.
Multi-Box Shipments
Take extra care when labeling multiple boxes. A useful workflow is to completely pack, verify, seal, and label one box before moving on to the next.
This reduces the chance of accidentally switching box labels.
