When creating your Family History Book, you can choose to begin with 4-6 generations for the standard 11.5x8" book, or up to 7 generations for the standard 13x10" book. The combination book of either size features 3-4 generations.

The number of generations refers to the starting person and their direct ancestors. For example, 4 generations include the starting person and their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

When you create your book, you can expect to see

  • a family tree page that displays the 4-7 generations

  • family group sheets and timeline pages for individuals within the 4-7 generations

This selection is simply to get you started with your book—you can add more generations to your book once the project is created. You'll also be able to add pages for any person within the Ancestry tree.

You can add as many people or generations as possible within our 350-page limit.
