We recommend choosing someone who has at least a few generations of ancestors in the Ancestry tree—someone like you, a child, or a parent.

To create a book about both sides of your parent's families, select yourself as the starting person.

To create a book about your mother and her ancestors only, select your mother as the starting person.

If you'd like to create a book about both sides of your parent's families, but do not want to include yourself, select one parent as the starting person. You can add pages for the other parent and their family to the book once the project is created.

  • Please note that our editor can only transfer data from one Ancestry Tree per project. You will have to make sure you have a tree in Ancestry with each parent's family history information. Suppose you do not have a tree that contains both sides' information. In that case, you will have to enter the information into one tree in Ancestry, or you will have to manually add information to the book.
