Are you wondering why your MyFitCoach app shows an unusually high or low calorie target? Don’t worry—there are several possible explanations. Here’s what might be happening and how to fix it.
1. Tracking Experience Accidentally Enabled
You’ll find the “Tracking Experience” setting in your Nutrition Profile (Nutrition tab > top right, tap the “Nutrition” button).
This option should only be enabled if you know your exact macronutrient intake and how it has affected your body weight.
We often see unrealistic or estimated values entered here, which can strongly distort the app’s calorie calculation.
Example:
You enter that with 220 g protein, 150 g carbs, and 70 g fat (~2150 kcal), you are gaining 0.4 kg per week. For many male users, this would be unrealistic—but the app will calculate all further targets based on that input.
If you then select a goal like “lose fat” with a weekly weight loss rate of 0.7 kg, the calorie target may be reduced to a level that’s hardly practical.
Solution:
If you’re not 100% sure, deactivate “Tracking Experience” in your Nutrition Profile. Your calorie target will update automatically and continue to adjust dynamically in the following days and weeks.
👉 We generally recommend leaving this option deactivated.
2. Inaccurate Tracking of Your Calorie Intake
If your weight doesn’t change as expected despite following the app’s targets, the problem is often not the calorie target itself but inaccuracies in tracking.
Common mistakes include:
Incorrectly estimating food quantities
Forgetting to log calorie-containing drinks, sauces, oils, or snacks
Overestimating portion sizes
Skipping “small items” like nuts or cheese
This can easily lead you to believe you’re eating 3000 kcal when in reality, it’s closer to 3500 kcal.
Important to know:
These fluctuations aren’t a big problem as long as they’re consistent—the app can still make meaningful adjustments. The real issue is when tracking is sometimes accurate and sometimes not, as this makes it harder for the app to adjust your calories reliably.
Solution:
Aim to track your nutrition as accurately as possible—especially in the beginning or whenever you’re not reaching your goals.
A “wrong” calorie target rarely comes from the app—it usually comes from inaccurate input or inconsistent tracking. With a few simple adjustments, you can quickly fix this and make your coaching even more precise.
