The allocation tab is a newly designed feature that allows employees to allocate their myFlexplan dollars between various options, such as their Health Spending Account (HSA), Wellness Spending Account (WSA), or other additional options provided by their employer. This change gives employees greater flexibility and visibility in managing their benefits allocations.

Key Features and Updates:

  1. Flexibility with 'Allocate Later'
Previously, employees needed to allocate funds before accessing certain account features. Now, employees have the choice to 'allocate later' if they need more time to decide. This allows them to submit claims from the previous year, explore covered items, and more before making final decisions.

  2. New Resources and Guidance
We now provide detailed resources to help employees understand their allocation options and the reasons behind allocation rules. This includes a video tutorial, and a "Why do I have to Allocate" button that provides guidance on why the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires allocation at the start of each benefit period.

  3. Permanent Tab Access
Instead of a pop-up, allocation is now housed in a dedicated tab on the left-hand side of your myFlexplan account. This tab lets employees allocate funds initially and revisit the allocation screen throughout the year for reference. They can also see what their last allocation was and make adjustments each year based on their own personal utilization of the balances!

  4. Real-Time Countdown
A real-time counter displays the number of days left to complete allocations, so employees know exactly how much time they have.

  5. Clear Lists of Covered Items
To make decisions easier, a comprehensive list of eligible items for both HSA and WSA is available in the allocation tab. This visibility helps employees see what types of expenses are covered in each account.

The new allocation tab empowers employees to manage their benefits with more ease and understanding, ensuring compliance with CRA guidelines while maximizing their flexible benefit options.
