As the month of May unfolds, we're here to bring you a fresh batch of updates tailored to upgrade your operations, Notable highlights include enhancements to the Billing module's options, work orders for kit-to-stock products, expanded search functionalities for locations, improvements to packing instructions, and much more. Let's dive in.

Work Orders and Kit to Stock

Work orders can be used to track the kitting process of kit-to-stock products. Each work order can be generated for a single unique kit-to-stock product. The work order lines consist of components for the kit-to-stock product, which are specified during the kit-to-stock product setup, while quantities are obtained from the Product setup. Roles can be granted access to work orders through settings, and various access settings can be defined and enabled or disabled for existing user roles.

Work order creation can be either done from the Work Order screen or on the Kit Inventory Report screen by selecting the kit-to-stock product on the report. Work orders can be created for stock, which allows the search for a kit-to-stock product of the selected client directly.

Alternatively, work orders can be created for shipment orders, which allows the search for a shipment order of the selected client that contains kit-to-stock products. The kit-to-stock products of the selected order can be included in the work order. Please note that the Built for SO option is solely aimed at enhancing the selection of kit-to-stock products at present. This option is not currently integrated with Shipment Order Allocation.

More Information on Work Orders

Work Order Type Management

  • Based on the Backflush parameter in the Work Order Type setup, work orders have two different life cycles:

    • If Backflush is disabled:

      • Work orders need to be allocated and picking tasks will be created afterward.

      • In order to proceed to kitting, picking tasks must be completed on the mobile app.

    • If Backflush is enabled:

      • The component picking process can be bypassed for bulk kitting operations.

      • Allocation and picking are not required.

Work Order Job Type Management

  • Existing allocation algorithms can be used for work order jobs. However, the settings for Order Conditions in the selected algorithm will be disregarded. Only the configurations for Inventory Conditions and Order By will be taken into account when allocating work orders.

  • Dedicated work order conditions can be selected for specific work order job types.

Allocation and Picking of Work Orders

  • The Warehouse Operations button on the Work Order screen allows the allocation of work orders (only non-backflush)

    • Allocation of work orders is only possible when using work order job types, and merging into existing job options is only feasible for merging work orders into existing work order jobs.

    • Wave integration is currently not possible for work order allocation.

    • Picking of work orders can be executed using the mobile app. This process is identical to executing picking tasks for shipment orders.

    • Creating a picking list is currently not available for work orders but this development is planned for the future.

Create Kit Process

  • Once picking for a work order is completed (not necessary for backflush work orders) the Create Kit process can be initiated on the Work Order screen.

    • Source Location/LP entry is required to validate component inventory. This search box allows for a search of locations or LPs.

    • Target Location/LP entry is required to determine where to create kit inventory.

    • During the kitting process, assembled kit-to-stock products can be assigned with inventory attributes such as expiry date tracking, production date tracking and lot/batch number tracking (only if the inventory attributes are enabled for the kit-to-stock product).

    • Serial number tracking is currently not possible for kit-to-stock products. Work orders do not support assigning serial numbers during kitting.

    • Product labels can be created for kit-to-stock product at the last step of the create kit process.

    • Completing the create kit process executes inventory transactions, where component quantities are reduced at the source location/LP and kit-to-stock product quantity is increased at the target location/LP.

    • Inventory changes can be tracked on the Transaction History Report.

    • New records will be created on the Receiving History Report for the created kit-to-stock product inventory.

Disassemble Kit Process

  • This process can be directly initiated on the Work Order screen. Creating work orders is not necessary for the disassemble kit process.

  • Source Location/LP entry is required to validate kit-to-stock product inventory. This search box allows for a search of locations or LPs.

  • Target Location/LP entry is required to determine where to create component inventory.

  • During the disassembly process, disassembled component products can be assigned with inventory attributes such as expiry date tracking, production date tracking and lot/batch number tracking (only if the inventory attributes are enabled for components.).

  • Serial number tracking is currently not possible for disassembling kit-to-stock products.

  • Product labels can be created for component products at the last step of the disassembly process.

  • Completing the disassemble kit process executes inventory transactions, where kit-to-stock product quantity is reduced at the source location/LP and component product quantities are increased at the target location/LP.

  • Inventory changes can be tracked on the Transaction History Report.

  • New records will be created on the Receiving History Report for the created component product inventory.

What's New/Improved

  • Column size extension is now available for reports.

  • Users can now search for locations using either Location Code or Location Barcode when using the Look Up function.

  • A new section titled Job Priority & Delete Options has been added to the Wave Rule screen. This section allows users to choose priority tags for all jobs in a wave and automate the deletion of pending jobs based on a set frequency.

  • The product/line-based packing instructions on the Packing screen have been updated for improved clarity and usability.

  • Allow Production Date Swap on Picking has been added as an option under Shipment Order Type parameters. When enabled, this feature permits users to scan a different production date than those listed in the shipment order during the picking process.

  • A Kit Component Inventory Availability Report has been added to Logiwa.

    • Report Capabilities:

      • Search by SKU bar

      • Filter capabilities

      • Screen refresh button

      • Large/small images option

      • Show [x] items selection

      • Pagination

      • Export as Excel function

      • Total record counter

      • Grid column customization

  • Users will now be able to edit and delete pack type details using the Bulk Import Pack Types and Barcode functionality.

  • A new Product Lookup screen has been released, allowing users to scan the SKU or barcode of a product and check its the inventory status. Additionally, they can view detailed attributes, such as the lot number and expiration date for a scanned product.

  • A new Label Status column has been added to the Carrier Shipment Details report to display whether the label is cancelled (voided) or not (active).

  • Billing Updates:

    • The Billing module's custom field options have been enhanced with this update. Previously, some Operation Types and Fee By fields were not linked to the custom fields used on the Location, LP, Product, Shipment Plan, Shipment Order, and Purchase Order screens. Now, the Operation Type and Fee By fields associated with custom fields are now included with their respective comparators.

    • A new condition named Total Volume has been added for LPs. This condition allows users to define charges per LP, based on the total volume of products located on the LP, including the LP's own volume defined at the LP Type's screen.

    • Users can now exclude a specified number of items from billing calculations, which can be useful in tier-based pricing scenarios. Users can adjust the exclusion count for specific fees, enabling different pricing for the first item compared to later items.

    • The introduction of a new Storage Fee Calculation Type enables users to perform separate counts for storage charges, applicable for Per Location and Per Pallet fee options. Logiwa IO previously calculated storage charges based on daily accumulation, peak or end-of-period inventory. The new option enables distinct counting over the entire billing period, counting each LP number or location code only once.

    • A Pick and Pack Order Based product charge has been added to the system. This feature allows the billing module to adjust per-product pick charges based on the number of shipment orders picked, introducing a new option called Tier-Order Base alongside the existing Tier Base option.

      • Existing Tier Base Option: Checks the total number of products picked during the billing period and selects the appropriate pricing tier.

      • New Tier-Order Base Option: Charges per product based on the number of shipment orders picked, adjusting the charge accordingly.

    • Product Weight and Product Volume conditions can now consider the weight and volume information of the selected pack type(s), rather than just the product's UOM data.

    • A new Age Based tab will be added to the Billing screen for storage operations. This tab allows users to differentiate between long-term and short-term storage charges and charge for the duration of storage. It is available in Storage Operations for Pallet and Product Fee By options.

    • New options have been added for Return operations:

      • Operation Type: Returns added as an option.

      • Fee By: Per SO, Per RMA, Per Product, and Per SKU added.

      • Charge By Options: Various new conditions depending on the selected Charge By added.

    • Users can now edit existing conditions and save those changes when using the Edit Billing screen.

    • The Carrier Shipment Details report has been improved with both carrier rates and markup rates (which make up the total rate) now defined at the Carrier setup.

What's Fixed

  • For Techship, we can now send confirmations for Saturday delivery, international billing types, residential addresses, and company names successfully.

  • When using the Batch Label Printing at the Packing Station feature, the system was overriding the Carrier and Shipping Option fields with the selections from the first order packed on the screen. Now, the system will consider the Carrier and Shipping Option selected on the Shipment Order when utilizing Batch Label Printing at the Packing Station.

  • In response to the issue where the Received Quantity field was inaccurately updated when multiple pack types were received in a purchase order, the following changes have been implemented:

    • Column names have been changed and updated to add clarification.

    • The calculation logic for the receiving difference has been modified to accurately account for numerous pack types.

  • The Total Quantity fields at Mobile Receiving were displaying incorrect values when higher-level pack types were included or received in a purchase order. Pack type quantities will now be converted to unit of measure quantities.

  • As the PO Qty box has caused some confusion for users during receiving, this field has been removed from all receiving related screens.

  • Some custom field toggles were sending incorrect values (showing them false/disabled rather than not active/null) on the backend. This issue has been resolved.

  • Send Email workflow action updates:

    • The variables/placeholders list was not visible for users. This has been adjusted, so users can now see their options to use when creating workflows for sending emails, such as {{warehouseCode}}

      • Example: If {{warehouseCode}} is added to the mail body, the workflow will replace the placeholder with the Warehouse Code information from the system.

    • Some email placeholders were not functioning correctly. All placeholders should now be working as expected.

  • The Serial Number Tracking Report has been adjusted to check for client, warehouse, and user access. Now, if a user does not have access to a given client or warehouse, they will not be able to view the serial number of a SKU that they do not have access to.

  • An issue with customer names with only one name defined (e.g. customers with only a first or last name entered) not displaying at the Packing screen has been resolved. Now, names with only first or last names entered will display. If neither a first name or last name has been entered, a message will display "No customer defined."

  • The issue of negative values in the Open PO Qty column on the ATP Report has been resolved.

API/Webhooks

  • A new Create VAS Operations Bulk endpoint has been added to Logiwa's Open API. This endpoint allows external services to add multiple VAS logs with active VAS types.

  • A Client Official Name field has been added to all Billing GET methods.

  • A Billing Report Update endpoint had been added to the system, through which users can update the Billing Status and IsExported columns at the Billing Report screen.

  • An IsExported column has been added to the Billing Report endpoints, to allow users to filter and track exported billing reports.

  • Updates for the following endpoints now allow the automatic creation and assignment of third-party accounts when shipment orders are accepted via API:

    • Create Shipment Order

    • Create Shipment Orders in Bulk

    • Get Shipment Order

    • List Shipment Order

    • Update Shipment Order

    • Update Shipment Order in Bulk
