How does Trev align opening and closing numbers across seasons?

In order to ensure that the closing numbers of a “previous” season align with the opening numbers of the “next” season, Trev automatically creates alignment events on the final day of the “previous” season.

A few things to know about these automated events:

  • These will be created as Found and/or Missing alignment events

  • These events will be created on the final day of the season (for many farms this is 31 May)

  • These events will be read only

  • These events will be marked with a calculator icon to denote that it was automatically created by Trev

  • These events will contain automated text in the Notes field that outline the nature of this automated event

  • These alignment events have the potential to change (see examples below)

There are two scenarios that these automated events might be created or updated:

1. If you request a Trev admin to edit the opening livestock numbers for the “next” season to start fresh. This will automatically create a Found and/or Missing event to maintain alignment between the seasons.

Example A - in this example 100 Heifer Calves are automatically aged up at season rollover, and the Opening Numbers for both Heifer Calves and R1 Heifers are subsequently edited to 5 and 98 respectively. This creates Found or Missing alignment records for each stock class.

2. If after a season has been rolled over a livestock event is created, removed or edited within a “previous” season. NB: if you have season rollover Auto Ageing enabled then Class Change events will be re-calculated first, and then Trev will create Found and/or Missing alignment records.

Example B - in this example 100 Heifer Calves are automatically aged up at season rollover, and then a livestock event for 10 sold Heifer calves has subsequently been added in the previous season. This recalculates the automatically generated Class Change events and creates an alignment record. Note that this retrospectively added sale event does not impact the Opening Numbers for the new season that was established at the point of season rollover.

Example C - in this example 100 Heifer Calves are automatically aged up at season rollover, and then a livestock event for 10 sold Heifer calves have been subsequently added into the previous season. In addition the Heifer Calves opening numbers for the new season have been adjusted. Both of these changes recalculate the automatically generated alignment record.
