If you find yourself needing a policy override for one of your BOM items, this article serves to guide you on which option to choose for your specific item.

Settings (left pane of the screen) → Policy Overrides → New Rule

All manufactured items:
Any items which are produced via a bill of material.

Only sub-assembly items:
Manufactured items that are also made into another item.

Only finished items:
Manufactured items that are not made into another item.

Below is an illustration of a BOM structure.

Top row - Pure finished goods. See green highlight in the below image. You would select the “Only finished items” filter if you would like to apply a policy override to this group of items only.

Middle rows - Semi-finished goods. See blue highlight in the below image. You would select the “Only sub-assembly items” filter if you would like to apply a policy override to this group of items only.

Bottom row - Pure raw materials. See orange highlight in the below image. Currently, there is no filter available to apply a policy override to this group of items only (however, you can create an override for a specific supplier).
