Netstock offers two-factor authentication for enhanced security. You can find this setting on the Access tab in the Configuration page from the Settings menu
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security used to double check that people are who they say they are when logging into online accounts.
If 2FA is enabled, users will need to provide their email address, password and a verification code from a separate mobile app to successfully log in to Netstock.
Enabling 2FA
2FA is a global level setting that will impact all users. It is recommended that you alert other users in advance before enabling this option.
When 2FA is enabled, all users will receive an email informing them that 2FA has been activated along with instructions about how to set it up and use it.
Upon activation, you will be automatically logged out and prompted to set up your own 2FA account upon logging back in.
Setting up 2FA
Every user will need to install a third party authenticator app on their mobile device. Google Authenticator is recommended but other compatible authenticator apps may also be used.
Users will use the authenticator app to scan a QR code to connect it to their Netstock login. Once connected, the authenticator app will be able to provide the time-sensitive verification codes that are required to log in.
This process is explained in greater detail in the email sent to users upon activation.
Logging in with 2FA
Once 2FA has been set up as described above, each user will log in by providing their email address, password and verification code from the authenticator app.
Note:
It's important to note that users will be unable to log in if they do not have access to their mobile authenticator app (for example, if they do not have their mobile device with them).
