There can be a few reasons why a submitted featured photo might not be accepted. Our publishing partners have specific photo guidelines, and submissions that don't meet those criteria may not be accepted.
This article provides more details about why your feature photo was rejected. We strongly encourage you to read our Article Publication Guidelines and Image Guidelines to avoid halts in your publication process.
Common Reasons for Featured Photo Rejection:
Image Dimensions Not Met:
For best results, featured photos should be submitted in either:
Landscape format: 1200x600 pixels
Portrait format: A 2:1 aspect ratio
We can sometimes help by cropping your photo to meet the requirements. However, some photos may not be suitable due to their composition.
Subject Not Fully Visible:
The main subject or person in the photo should be shown entirely, from head to shoulders.
Excessive Negative Space:
Photos with more than 80% empty space filled with a solid color or gradients will not be accepted.
Inappropriate Content:
Featured photos must be suitable for all audiences and avoid:
Violence or gory content
Nudity or sexually explicit content
Slanderous, defamatory, or offensive material
Low Image Quality:
We require professional-looking photos free from the following:
Obvious artifacts (pixelation, compression issues)
Low resolution (resulting in blurry subjects or unreadable text)
Inappropriate or Inapplicable Photo Credits:
Photo credits are deemed inappropriate or inapplicable when:
No photo credit was submitted
The wrong name is credited
No signed authorization form was provided
Image Found Online with Different Credits:
We cannot accept photos found online that are credited to a different photographer.
By understanding platform guidelines and reasons for image rejection, you'll be well on your way to having your photos featured!
