How do I know whether a contact is unsubscribed or bounced within an export file (CSV)?

Explanation of the numerical values (0 and 1) for bounces and unsubscriptions when exporting recipient data as a CSV file from reports.

When exporting recipient data from your reports, you will receive a CSV file. In this file, the status for bounces and unsubscriptions is represented by numerical values (0 and 1) in separate columns.

Below is the exact definition of what these values mean:

Bounces ("is_bounced")

  • 0 = No Hard Bounce: The email address is still active and there is no hard bounce.

  • 1 = Hard Bounce: The email is permanently undeliverable (e.g., because the email address does not exist or has been deleted).

Unsubscriptions ("is_unsubscribed")

  • 0 = Active: The recipient is still active and has not unsubscribed from the newsletter.

  • 1 = Unsubscribed: The recipient has actively opted out of the newsletter mailing list.
