Nexar One Randomly Recording

Updated over a year ago

This article will help you troubleshoot your Nexar One in case you experience issues where it randomly records drives even when you are not driving.

Why Am I Getting Ride Started Notifications in the App When I’m Not Driving?

The Nexar One and Nexar app use WiFi and Bluetooth to connect. Whenever your phone's WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on, the app searches for the Nexar One.

If the dash cam is hardwired or constantly powered by the car, even when parked, the app might detect the dash cam nearby and assume you're driving. As a result, it starts recording a drive.

To prevent random recordings, we recommend enabling the Continuous power outlet toggle within the Nexar app's Dash cam settings.

Troubleshooting Random Drive Recordings

If you're receiving drive started notifications from the Nexar app when you're not driving with Nexar One, follow these steps:

1. Ensure that the power cable is connected to the correct port on the Nexar One's mount and not to any add-on ports on the sides, as this can potentially harm the dash cam.

2. Plug the dash cam to power

3. Enable the phone's Bluetooth and WiFi network and wait for the dash cam's blue/white power light to stop blinking

4. Open the Nexar app, then go to More > Dash cam

5. Enable the Continuous power outlet toggle in the app.

6. Turn on the Motion & Fitness (for iOS) or Physical Activity (for Android) permission for the Nexar app in your phone settings.

Monitor the Nexar app's behavior after following these instructions. If you still encounter the same issue, reach out to our support team. Sharing the date and time of the random Drives will be helpful for the investigation.
