Learn what devices, browsers, and hardware work best with NextMe so you can run your waitlist from any setup.

When to Use This Article

  • You are setting up NextMe for the first time and want to know what device to use

  • You are evaluating whether your existing hardware will work with NextMe

  • You are buying new hardware and want a recommendation before purchasing

  • You are troubleshooting an issue and want to rule out a device compatibility problem

Overview

NextMe runs in any modern web browser - no special hardware is required. We offer three ways to access the app:

  • Web App - accessible in any modern browser on any device

  • iOS App - native app for iPhone and iPad

  • Android App - native app for Android phones and tablets

Your guests will never need to download an app. All guest communication is done via SMS text message.

Recommended Setup

Most businesses get the best experience from a tablet. The combination of portability and extra screen real estate makes it easier to manage a busy waitlist throughout the day. That said, NextMe works just as well on a phone, laptop, or desktop - use whatever fits your workflow.

Hardware Guidelines

  1. Keep devices reasonably current. Mobile devices and tablets should be new enough to still receive OS updates. Devices that no longer receive OS updates can develop browser compatibility issues over time. As a general rule, avoid devices that are more than 5 years old.

  2. Use a device with a modern browser. NextMe requires Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or another standard modern browser. E-readers and specialized tablets with limited browsing capabilities are not supported.

  3. Ensure a reliable internet connection. NextMe is a web-based app and requires an active internet connection to function. A stable Wi-Fi connection is strongly recommended. See our Network Requirements article for specifics.

FAQ

  1. Do I need to buy special hardware to use NextMe?

No. NextMe runs in any modern web browser, so any phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer you already own will work. If you are buying something new, a tablet tends to offer the best experience for most businesses.

  2. Can I use NextMe on my phone?

Yes. NextMe works on phones via the web browser or through the native iOS and Android apps. Many businesses manage their waitlist from a phone during busy periods.

  3. Does NextMe work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes. NextMe offers native apps for both iOS and Android, and the web app works in any mobile browser as well.

  4. Do my guests need to download an app or have a smartphone?

No. Guests interact with NextMe entirely through SMS text messages. They do not need to download anything or have a smartphone - any mobile phone that can receive texts will work.

  5. My device is a few years old - will it still work?

It depends on whether the device still receives OS updates and supports a modern browser. As a general guideline, avoid devices that are more than 5 years old. If your device is older and you are experiencing issues, try using a newer device or contact our support team.
