Your job postings are often the first thing a candidate sees when considering a role with your organization. To ensure that the first impression is a good one, it is important to reflect on your job posting strategy each year as you prepare for the upcoming hiring season. We’ve compiled the following best practices to help you get started.

1. Audit job postings for clarity, content, and concision.

Nimble tip: Be sure your job postings showcase what sets your organization apart. Do they communicate your core values, commitment to diversity, and anything unique about your curriculum or school culture?

Nimble tip: Your job postings should be as comprehensive as possible to ensure transparency and equity. The K-12 job market is competitive, and candidates want to know exactly what a role with your organization entails (e.g. salary range, daily schedule, role responsibilities, etc.).

Nimble tip: Some of our users like to include promotional videos or customize the text of the job posting. Within Nimble job postings, you can include hyperlinks to videos or other documents, and customize text formatting (e.g. color, size, bulleted lists, etc.).

2. Archive old job postings and create new ones.

Nimble tip: When you are finished hiring for a role or the hiring season has come to an end, be sure to archive all job postings. Should you need to revisit these archived postings, you can do so by using the job status filters, and you can always unarchive the posting.

Nimble tip: You can easily create new postings by using job templates. Be sure to update the hiring season and any other details that have changed since you previously posted. It is important to create new postings each year instead of using the same posting over multiple years in order to keep your hiring data clean and accurate.

3. Think about using pooled postings.

Nimble tip: Pooled postings can streamline your job posting process and improve candidates’ experience with your job board. With pooled postings, you can include multiple similar vacancies within one job post (e.g. An “Elementary Teacher” job post can include a 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade vacancy).

4. Consider posting your jobs early.

Nimble tip: Research has shown time and time again that organizations that hire earlier are more likely to get the best teachers. We recommend posting no later than February (but even earlier if you can!). Though you may not have the full picture of your vacancies at that point in the year, you can refer to your previous year’s data on your Vacancy Dashboard to make projections for open roles.

Nimble tip: Some of our customers post jobs early by first posting them as district-level vacancies. Then, once vacancies are confirmed, they place candidates with specific school sites.
