Handling Direct-to-FBA Shipments from Overseas in Planyard

When shipping goods straight from an overseas factory to Amazon FBA (without them ever entering your local warehouse), it's critical to maintain clean records and avoid duplicate inventory. Here's the right way to handle it.

🚫 The Problems

  • No PO = No Record
If you don’t create a Purchase Order (PO), there’s no trace that goods were ever ordered or shipped.

  • PO Not Received = Duplicate Inventory
If you create a PO but don’t receive it, Planyard will count the incoming PO quantity and the FBA shipment units, leading to duplicated stock.

  • Received in Local Warehouse = Confusion
If you receive the PO into your regular warehouse, it falsely implies the goods were physically received there, which can mess with reports and warehouse workflows.

āœ… The Solution

Create a Virtual Warehouse (Name it e.g., ā€œOverseasā€):

  1. Create a PO for every overseas shipment.

  2. Receive the PO into the Overseas warehouse to log the goods as received.

  3. Deduct inventory from the Overseas warehouse when creating your FBA shipment.

This ensures:

  • Clean inventory tracking (no duplication)

  • Accurate audit trails

  • Warehouse reports that match physical reality
