Due dates simply describe the last date that a Task can be performed before it's too late and causes a problem.
How It Works
You set a due date by pressing the icon and selecting a date.
On the web, the icon can be found in a Task list row or in the Task detail view that appears when you click on a Task. On mobile, the icon can be found by swiping a Task to the right.
To change a due date, simply click on the icon again and select a preset date or a custom date. To remove a due date, press Never in the mobile app or on the web.
Note: Tasks with due dates will not be automatically added to your Horizon view on the day that they are due, though they'll be included in the Horizon Quick Insights box if you haven't added them to your Horizon.
Your Task list is sorted by due date, with the most pressing shown first. You can sort your Task list by other dimensions using the sort control from the left drawer (mobile) and left side (web).
When creating a recurring Task, you add due dates and Horizon dates that are relative to the date that any new Task is created. For instance, you can have a recurring Task that creates a "clean bedroom" Task each Saturday; you want it to appear on your Horizon on Saturday, but you want to give yourself the entire weekend to perform the task, in case you have a busy Saturday. You can set the Horizon date to the day the Task is created and the due date to the day after the Task is created.
Why Due Dates Matter
For instance, you may have to return some signed paperwork to your school by October 20th — that’s when its “due by”; however, you may choose to move it into today’s Horizon to get it out of the way or schedule it to move into your Horizon on October 10th.
It's important that you add due dates to Tasks when relevant, because otherwise, Horizon features (like automated notifications when you've missed a due date) can't do their job. NoPlex features something we call experiential intelligence — using AI in small and subtle ways to augment your experience.
For example, NoPlex sorts your Task list so that the ones that are due the soonest are seen first. And in your Horizon, you're greeted with an Insights box which will let you know if you seem to have missed any Tasks that are due today or overdue:
These features can't do their job unless you take the moment to add a due date to the Task. Then things get missed. Then you get angry. Then you stomp your feet. Then your floor gets dirty...I don't have to tell you how this ends (global warfare) and it can all be avoided by adding due dates.
We all lose track of due dates, and adults with ADHD have a particularly difficult time with them. Getting in the habit of adding due dates and then letting NoPlex use them to manage the appropriate messaging, notifications, warnings, and Task sorting makes staying responsible much, much easier.
Understanding the Due Date "Look Book"
The due date icon can appear in any of five states that let you understand the Task's Horizon status at a glance.
No due date has been set.
A future due date has been set.
Today is the day.
Oops, the due date passed. Don't panic.
Relative Reminders
After setting a due date you can also set Reminders. You will be provided with a set of relative Reminders based off of the due date that you have set. If you delete your due date these relative reminders will also be removed. However, any custom Reminders that you have set will remain.
Troubleshooting Tips
Due Dates seem to be incorrect: Double-check that the time zone selection (found in your NoPlex settings view) is correct. Otherwise, get in touch with us via our feedback channel (main NoPlex menu top left corner for mobile and bottom left corner chat bubble for web) or contact our support team via email at support@noplex.ai
Ugh! I keep missing important things and everyone is angry at me. Use due dates. You're welcome.
