Basic users are limited to one Supporter. Connect with up to 25 Supporters by becoming a Navigator. Learn more.

Supporter relationships in NoPlex are perhaps the coolest feature. Get to know how it works.

What is a Supporter?

You can connect your NoPlex account to that of a loved one, friend, family member, or any other person who can provide support, accountability, and backup. From there, you can add them to any Task that you want them to keep an eye on or remain aware of. These individuals are called Supporters.

If you add your Supporter to a Task, they’ll receive a notification alerting them that they’ve been added, as well as notifications letting them know when you’ve added the Task to your Horizon, removed it from your Horizon, completed it, let it carry over to the next day, or any other relevant action (or lack of action). Unaddressed Horizon Tasks appear on your Supporter's Horizon and can be completed either of you. This backup provides a valuable insurance policy that generates peace of mind for all when it comes to ensuring that truly important Tasks aren’t missed.

How It Works

Using NoPlex's Supporter feature is simple — you just have to set it up.

Connect with Your Supporter

You can connect with a Supporter through the Supporter / My Team view, which is available via the icon, which you can find on the left-hand navigation menu on the web and in the menu on the mobile app. There, you can send them an invitation, which provides them with a unique link that lets them sign up and automatically connects you (once their account has been created, if they don't already have one). You can remove or change your Supporter at any time in the same view.

Some facts:

  • Any NoPlex user can be a Supporter, regardless of whether or not you're a NoPlex basic user or a Navigator; however, basic users can only Support one other NoPlex user, while a Navigator can support up to 25.

  • Being a Supporter doesn't change or limit your ability to use NoPlex as you normally do.

  • You can support someone who supports you — circular Supporter arrangements are encouraged.

Add Your Supporter to Tasks

In each Task list view row and each Task detail view, you'll see a icon. In the mobile app, you can access this icon by swiping to the right on a Task:

Once connected with your Supporter, pressing the icon adds your Supporter to the Task, and by clicking it again, you'll remove them. When they're added, the icon darkens. It's that simple.

This feature is a great addition for any NoPlex user, but especially for adults with ADHD, it can be a lifesaver. Insecurity about being reliable and contributing to the degree that one would like to can be a significant source of anxiety for both adults with ADHD and those living with them.

The Supporter Experience

As a Supporter you have a view of all Tasks that are shared with you by the user you're supporting. A Supporter can see Tasks they're supporting in their Horizon as well as in their Task list.

The Horizon view will show any Tasks that the supported user has placed in their own Horizon view. These can also be hidden from their view.

All Tasks that are shared with the Support will be viewable in their Task list and filterable by using the collection that is designated for the user they're supporting. Any Task that is associated with a supported user with have the initials of that individual in an emoji beside the title of the Task.

Although Supporters have full view into everything that is shared with them they do not have the ability to edit these Tasks, except to mark a Task as complete. A Supporter cannot change any associated Due Dates, Reminders or content that you have entered for the Task. If they decide to step-in to assist with a Task and complete it they can mark it as complete and this will then be removed from both of your lists and the supported user will be notified.

Supporters Make Everything Better

  • Enhanced Accountability: Working with a Supporter enhances accountability, especially for Tasks that might otherwise be neglected or forgotten, or those that have historically been a point of contention within your family.

  • Emotional Value: Supporters can provide encouragement, and sharing Tasks with your Supporter can increase empathy for the challenges you face in accomplishing them.

  • Task Completion: It's simple: Working with a Supporter can lead to higher rates of Task completion and productivity.

Hacking the Supporter Relationship

That's right. We want you to abuse the Supporter feature. Especially for partners, being one another's Supporter allows for an unprecedented degree of collaborative Task management. Use it as a way to "assign" Tasks to one another. Partners who use this feature can reduce the number of different communication channels used (e.g. texting each other about Tasks) and therefore the number of things that slip between the cracks.

Supporter Best Practices:

  • Regular Communication: Keep an open line of communication with your Supporter. Regular check-ins can help address any challenges early on.

  • Feedback and Adjustment: Encourage your Supporters to provide feedback on your patterns and behaviors. Use this feedback to adjust your strategies. Do they feel like you're taking too much on? Too little? Are you satisfied with your Supporter's involvement or would you like more from them?

  • Respect Boundaries: While Supporters are there to help, it's important to respect their time and boundaries. Clearly communicate expectations and be considerate of their availability.

FAQ

Why don't I see the Supporter icon on Notes or Routines? You can only add a Supporter to Tasks. Think about it — a Note stores information but shouldn't convey something that you have to do. Routines create Tasks. However, note that there is a Supporter option on recurring Tasks and the Tasks found in Routines — this lets you elect to automatically add your Supporter to the Tasks that they create.

Can I customize the notifications I receive about the NoPlex user(s) I support? Currently, there are not controls in place to manage which notifications Supporters receive about Tasks (or when), but this has been requested and we plan to make it available in future versions.

I understand that a NoPlex basic user can support one other user but a Navigator can support up to 25; but can I work with multiple Supporters? Not right now, but users have requested this feature, and we're planning on introducing it in a future version.

Can I chat with my Supporter through NoPlex? Currently you will communicate with your Supporters using your preferred channels as NoPlex does not offer in app chat at the moment.

Can my Supporter handle any Task for me? Only those that you've added them to — either manually or via automation (e.g. recurring Tasks or Routine Tasks that create Tasks on a schedule).
