With Novela’s Characters feature, you can manage your entire cast at a glance and keep every detail organized.
Creating a New Character
To add a character to your story:
Click the 'New Character' button located at the top right or at the bottom of the list.
A new page will be generated instantly for you to start building your character.
Character Profile: The Basics
Click on a character's name to open their profile page.
Here, you can lay the foundation:
Core Info: Input the character's name and a brief description.
Visuals & Tags: Upload a character image and use Color Tags to categorize them (e.g., Protagonist, Supporting, Faction A).
Character Profile: Deep Dive
Go beyond the basics by adding detailed layers to each character. You can document their personality, backstory (pre-story), physical appearance, and relationships.
Use the three block types to expand your character’s profile freely:
Text: Perfect for free-writing, dialogue snippets, or sample scenes.
Table: Best for organizing key traits, motives, or specific world-building details in a structured list.
Image: Store reference photos, concept art, or mood board images.
