Updated over a week ago

Novela’s plot features let you view your story’s flow and structure at a glance.

  • Planning Phase: Draft the initial outline of your story.

  • Writing Phase: Keep track of your narrative direction as you write.

  • Completion Phase: Review and refine the overall structure of your finished work.

Plot helps you design your story’s progression before or while you write.

Creating a Plot: Parts & Blocks

The Plot feature uses a two-tier structure: Part and Block

  • Part: These define the major segments of your story.

    • Example: Proposal, Act 1, Act 2, Act 3, etc.

  • Block: These are individual units within each Part, used to organize specific scenes or events.

💡 Tip: You can easily reorder Parts and Blocks at any time using Drag & Drop.

Block Settings

Click on a Block to customize and add detailed information:

  • Content: Describe the narrative flow, conflicts, or key turning points within the block.

  • Characters: Select the characters who appear in or influence this scene.

  • Documents: Link relevant documents, such as world-building notes or idea memos.

Cross-Referencing Feature

  • Instant Navigation: Click on a character or document linked to a plot block to jump directly to its page.

  • Bidirectional Links: Connected Plot cards will automatically appear on character and document pages, allowing you to navigate back to the plot seamlessly.

  • This Cross-Reference system lets you move effortlessly between Plot ⇄ Document ⇄ Characters, helping you manage your story's structure in 3D.
