How to Send Messages to Workers (If In-App Chat is Unavailable/Not Enabled)

Nowsta provides multiple ways to communicate with your workers directly from the platform. Depending on your account, you can send announcements or, if available, use the In-App Chat feature for real-time conversations.

Overview

There are two ways to message workers in Nowsta:

  • Send Announcements – Available to all customers for communicating with workers.

  • In-App Chat – A real-time messaging feature that is currently in beta and may not yet be available for all accounts.

Steps

Send an Announcement from an Event

Use this option to send a message related to a specific shift or event.

  1. Open the Events page.

  2. Locate the worker's shift.

  3. Select Send Announcement.

  4. Enter your message and send it.

Workers will receive the announcement in the Nowsta Worker App.

Send an Announcement from the Workers Page

Use this option to message one or more workers directly.

  1. Navigate to the Workers page.

  2. Select the worker(s) you want to message.

  3. Click Send Announcement.

  4. Compose your message and send it.

Workers will receive the message through the Nowsta Worker App

Alternative Methods

Use In-App Chat (Beta)

If your account has access to In-App Chat:

  1. Open the Chat panel from the right side of the application.

  2. Select the + icon to start a new conversation.

  3. Search for the worker(s) you want to message.

  4. Enter your message and send it.

Messages are delivered instantly, and workers can reply in real time.

Note: In-App Chat is currently in beta and is not yet available for all customer accounts.

Troubleshooting

If you expected to see the In-App Chat panel but it isn't available, try the following:

  • Refresh your browser.

  • Navigate to another page within Nowsta and check again.

  • Verify that your browser zoom is set to the default level.

  • Clear your browser's cache and reload the page.

If you've completed these steps and still don't see the Chat panel, your account may not yet have access to the beta feature. You can continue communicating with workers using Send Announcement instead.

Important Notes

  • Send Announcement is the recommended messaging option for all customers.

  • Announcements can be sent from either the Events page or the Workers page.

  • In-App Chat is currently a beta feature and is being rolled out gradually. Availability may vary by account.

You can communicate with workers by sending announcements from either the Events or Workers page. If your account has access to the beta In-App Chat feature, you can also exchange real-time messages directly within Nowsta.
