How to Configure Payroll & Break Policy Settings
Log in to the Nowsta Admin site.
Go to Settings > Payroll & Break Policy.
Review and configure the available settings based on your companyâs payroll policies.
Company Pay Code
The Company Pay Code is an optional field used for payroll integrations.
Some payroll systems require a company pay code to properly map and process payroll data.
If your payroll integration requires one, enter the appropriate code.
If it is not required, this field can be left blank.
Minimum Hours Policy
The Minimum Hours Policy determines how shifts that fall below a defined minimum number of hours are handled.
Minimum Hours Count as Hours Worked
If a shift is shorter than the minimum, Nowsta extends the hours to meet the minimum.
The adjusted hours count toward overtime calculations.
Minimum Hours Do Not Count as Hours Worked
If a shift is shorter than the minimum, Nowsta adds a bonus payment to make up the difference.
The additional time does not count toward overtime calculations.
You can define default minimum hours by Position on the Positions page or by Department on the Departments page.
Breaks Policy
The Breaks Policy determines whether break time is paid and how it affects total hours and overtime calculations.
Break Times Are Paid
Break time is included in total hours worked.
Break time counts toward overtime calculations.
Break Times Are Not Paid
Break time is deducted from total hours worked.
Troubleshooting
If your payroll calculations do not appear as expected, review your Minimum Hours Policy and Breaks Policy settings to make sure they match your companyâs policies.
If you use a payroll integration, also verify that the Company Pay Code is entered correctly if required by your payroll provider.
Important Notes
Changes to these settings can affect payroll calculations and overtime totals.
Minimum hours can be configured by Position or Department.
Carefully review these settings to ensure they align with your companyâs payroll policies and applicable labor requirements.
Summary
The Payroll & Break Policy settings help configure how Nowsta calculates minimum hours, break time, overtime, and payroll-related information. Reviewing these settings regularly can help ensure payroll calculations align with your companyâs policies.
