How to Troubleshoot Issues with Publishing Shifts in Nowsta

Publishing shifts in Nowsta allows you to notify workers about available shifts and coordinate staffing for your events. If you’re having trouble publishing shifts, the steps below can help resolve common issues.

Common publishing issues include:

  • Publish by Tag not sending shifts to workers.

  • The Publish button appearing grayed out.

  • Individual shift publishing options being unavailable.

How to Troubleshoot Publishing Issues

1. Check Worker Tags

If Publish by Tag is not sending shifts to workers, make sure tags are set up and assigned to the appropriate workers.

  1. Go to the Tags section in Nowsta.

  2. Click New Tag.

  3. Enter a tag name, such as Team A or Level 1 Workers.

  4. Assign the tag to the appropriate workers.

  5. Check the worker’s profile to confirm the correct tag is assigned.

2. Publish Using a Tag

Once the appropriate tags are set up:

  1. Open the event or shift you want to publish.

  2. Select Publish by Tag.

  3. Choose the appropriate worker tag.

  4. Publish the shift.

Workers assigned to the selected tag will receive the published shift request.

3. Check Event-Level Publishing

If the Publish button is grayed out or individual shift publishing options cannot be changed, publishing may be controlled at the event level.

  1. Open the event associated with the shift.

  2. Use the event-level Publish option.

  3. Select the appropriate publishing method, such as Publish Shift or Publish by Tag.

  4. Confirm that the shifts have been published successfully.

Troubleshooting

If shifts are still not being published:

  • Confirm that the appropriate workers have been assigned the correct tags.

  • Make sure you are using the correct publishing method.

  • Refresh the page and try again.

  • If the issue continues, try using a different browser or an incognito/private window.

  • If possible, take a screenshot or screen recording of what happens when you try to publish.

Important Notes

  • Publish by Tag only sends shifts to workers who are assigned to the selected tag.

  • If no workers are assigned to the selected tag, they will not receive the shift request.

  • Publishing options may be controlled at the event level, which can prevent individual shift publishing controls from being changed.

Summary

Checking worker tags and understanding event-level publishing controls can help resolve most common publishing issues in Nowsta. Make sure the correct workers are tagged and that you’re using the appropriate publishing method for the event.
