How do I change the date range of a story?
How do I change the date range of a story?

You can edit the date range of the entire story or just for specific nugits. You can also compare data from different date ranges.

The Date Range of a story defines the data displayed in your story / nugits. If you edit the date range, they will show a different set of data.

The Date Range can be fixed (from x day to x day, or x month) or rolling (this month, last month, etc). In this case, the report will automatically be updated to reflect this specific period (e.g for "this month", the data will be refreshed on the 1st of the new month.)

Step-by-Step: Edit the date range of a story

  1. From your story in Edit Mode, click on the Calendar icon in the top menu bar.

  2. Select the type of date range you'd like to use from the suggested options (fixed or rolling) or customise it using "Custom" at the bottom of the dropdown list.

  3. Click on 'Save'.

Step-by-Step: Edit the date range of a nugit

By default, date range in each nugit follows that of the story. If you'd like a nugit to show a specific date range and bypass the global date range of the story:

  1. Click on the Calendar button in the top menu bar of that specific nugit

  2. Edit the date range following the same instructions as above

  3. Click on 'Save'.

Step-by-Step: Compare Date Range in a nugit:

Some nugits (Table, Metrics List, Line Chart) offer the possibility of comparing the data shown to data from a previous date range.
You can choose from "Previous Period", "Same Period 12 Months Ago" or "Custom".

  1. Click on the Calendar button of the specific nugit

  2. Toggle the 'Compare' Button

  3. Select the type of comparison and/or customise the date range

  4. Click on 'Apply'

The Date Range can also be edited in Live View mode by non logged-in Users, using the same Calendar button, if this specific permission is enabled in the Sharing Settings (Learn more about How to Share your Stories). In this case, the story will change to reflect the data from the selected date range.

Note that, if the viewer closes the window and re-opens the link, the date range will revert back to the one selected in Edit Mode.
