Why is my data not showing up?

What to do to find data missing from your Story.

Here are three reasons data might not show up in Stories after selecting datasources:

1. Datasources are not active during your selected date range

Step-by-step: How to check if datasources have no data during your Story's date range

  1. Click the calendar icon on the top of the edit screen.

  2. Click the drop-down menu under 'Date Range'. Select 'All time'.

  3. If your data shows up after this, it means no data was found in the datasource during your previous date range.

If you are sure a datasource should have data during a specific date range but it does not show up, you can wait for the next daily refresh or follow the steps under 'How to check datasource statuses and refresh datasources' below.

2. Filters exclude the data you want to see

Step-by-step: How to check if filters are excluding your data

  1. Check your Story's global filter. Click the filter icon on the top of the edit screen.

  2. Refer to the datasource list under 'Setup Data' tab on the left toolbar and compare with filter conditions to check if datasources are excluded. Also check if data you're looking for is filtered out using dimensions (e.g. Country, Datasource Platform). If you find a condition that excludes data you're looking for, click the trash icon on the right to delete it, then click 'Apply'.

  3. If your data still does not show, check nugit-level filters. Hover over the nugit you want the data to be displayed in. Click the filter icon on the grey toolbar.

  4. Again, check if filter conditions exclude the data you want to see and edit or delete them accordingly. Depending on global filters and what you want the nugit to show, you may enable or disable 'Bypass Story-level filters on this nugit'. Save changes by clicking 'Apply'. (To learn more about filters, see 'How do I add filters to my Story?'.)

3. The nugit being used does not function for your specific datasource

Although some nugits may look alike, those from specialised drawers function differently. If the text header on a nugit was edited, you may not be sure if it came from the Data Summaries drawer or a specialised drawer.

For example, an Age & Gender table from the Audience drawer will only show age & gender data if this breakdown is available from your media platform, while a table from the Keyword drawer will pull data from Google Ads, but not Facebook Ads.

Step-by-step: How to check if a nugit is from a specialised drawer

  1. Click the eye icon on the grey toolbar. Tick 'Sources'. This will show the datasource platforms compatible with the nugit.

  2. If the datasource platform you want to show in that nugit is not listed (e.g. you want to show Google Analytics data, but only Facebook Ads is listed), you would need to pull a different nugit to show that specific data.

  3. You can test if an existing nugit is a specialised nugit or one from the Data Summaries drawer by comparing the data that appears with data in new nugits from the Data Summaries drawer.

4. Datasources are still importing

Step-by-step: How to check datasource statuses and refresh datasources

  1. Click the burger menu icon on the home screen. Click 'Data Factory'.

  2. Search for your datasource by name and/or using filters.

  3. Under 'Status', you can see if a datasource is 'Available', 'Importing', 'Not Activated', or 'Disconnected'.

The best way to troubleshoot is to first check your date range and global (Story-level) and nugit-level filters before trying to refresh data.

If your datasource has only recently been activated, you may need to wait for its full contents to import.

Active datasources automatically refresh daily starting from midnight Singapore time (GMT +08:00).
