Having a problem with your Bambu Lab X1 Webcam? We can fix it!

Updated over 7 months ago

OctoEverywhere's Bambu Connect allows any Bambu Lab printer to connect to OctoEverywhere and use all our free cloud 3D printing tools. These include free remote access, advanced AI print failure detection, real-time printer notifications, and more.

Some Bambu Lab X1 users might encounter a bug in which the built-in webcam fails to load when trying to access it from the OctoEverywhere dashboard, Quick View, or Live Links.

Unfortunately, this is a bug with the Bambu Lab X1 printer itself, and OctoEverywhere can't do anything to work around it. (we have tried). We are attempting to contact Bambu Labs to report and help them fix the bug, but we haven't gotten a contact yet. Other communities that access the webcam via the local network, like Home Assistant, are also hitting this bug.

There are two ways to work around the webcam not loading bug:

  1. Restart The Printer - This isn't ideal since it can't be done during a print, but when the printer restarts, the webcam should load as expected for at least a few hours. Thus, restarting the printer between each print can mitigate this issue.

  2. Setup an Alternative Webcam - OctoEverywhere's Bambu Connect supports setting up external alternative webcams for remote access, AI feature detection, notification, and more. The system supports any webcam that can stream via mjpeg or RTSP, which enables USB webcams, Wayze cameras, and many others.

If you have tried the steps above but still have issues, contact our support team; we will be happy to help!
